As a graphic artist myself, and as I can appreciate your respective designs (and opinions of designs)...
Can I politely request that you start a brand new topic string regarding the not-yet-implemented-custom-skin-feature for PG8X? I'd prefer to get notifications from Martin regarding the plugin's development on this string.

Hi there,ENV1 wrote:Thanks.layzer wrote:colorize the buttons lightly, but keep the text on them white. as it is the buttons are a little hard to read.
btw...nice work, ENV
I will probably switch to color coded membranes, similar to those that Martin made.
this thread has proceeded quite a bit since I last checked...
I do like the look of ENV1's GUI suggestion. Regarding the buttons at the bottom, I also would favour some (improved) membrane buttons. The main reason behind this is that the PG8X is closer in functionality to the JX8P, while the current buttons in the GUI look more like a JX-10.
I am planning to extend the plugin at some point to a "MLS-70", and I guess the JX10/MKS-70 style buttons would be more appropriate for that.
Cheers,
Martin

Ah. Gotcha. Its the dark ones that look wrong.EvilDragon wrote:Yes, mine looks the same under a bright light.ENV1 wrote:Well, i just found another pic that shows one in the same bright grey.EvilDragon wrote:AFAIK there was none of that. (I thought it was the other way around.)
Probably a good idea at this point.lionscub68 wrote:Can I politely request that you start a brand new topic string regarding the not-yet-implemented-custom-skin-feature for PG8X?
Will create a dedicated thread when i have the next screenshot to show.

Membranes it will be.

As for the shade of grey, I am quite happy with the darker one. In particular in the light of the posts of Black Winney et al. who are asking for strong contrast for good readability. With a white font, a slightly darker grey would surely help. In fact, BlackWinney asked me to make the current skin a tad darker.ENV1 wrote:Then its settled.martin_l wrote:I also would favour some (improved) membrane buttons. And here's what I think about that:martin_l wrote:I am planning to extend the plugin at some point to a "MLS-70"

The first draft actually was darker, (and had more subtle lighting too), but i ended up finding it a tad too dark, so i brightened it up a bit.martin_l wrote:As for the shade of grey, I am quite happy with the darker one. If i reverted, contrast would increase quite a bit since the printings are much brighter now than in this screenshot.

This one probably got lost among the posts:

Oops. That should be "BEND LFO".EvilDragon wrote:This one probably got lost among the posts:

It's actually a "patch parameter" which does not show up on the pg-800. But I found it a usefull deviation.

I suppose it should probably be MW LFO since it reacts to modwheel instead of pitch bend

I am flexible on that. The JX8P calls it BEND LFO. But there is no reason to stick to that.
MOD DEPTH or MW LFO seems more appropriate.

Yep, MOD DEPTH or MW DEPTH is probably better.

I think the JX8P naming comes form the fact that the JX8P does not have a Mod Wheel, but only this pitch bender stick which you can push upwards to get the LFO modulation.EvilDragon wrote:Yep, MOD DEPTH or MW DEPTH is probably better.
The hardware only has On/Off with some ramping when you push the lever.

Indeed. Oh how I hate that retarded pitch bend stick that goes only up, and not up-down, like Korg has it.
