Hi there, have you a recommention for metal guitar lead ?
what the reverb type is better to choose in valhalla room ?,
also for the rythm guitar but actualy i know this is better to put a little reverb or let it dry

Any advice from VRoom users?

Also, to the original poster, do you have any reference tracks that we can listen to? If you link to something on YouTube, I might be able to match the reverb with a preset.

I tend to prefer the dark modes on lead guitar, unless there's a tape-like delay in the chain also. But I'd say experiment with the different algorithms and learn how they can fit your sound, the Rooms are all useable.
Don't know how you work, but I use a different chain for every lead and usually program the preset from scratch (and never save them, sorry

)

Never use a reverb on rhythm metal guitars, unless it is a vary old-fashioned black metal (and still I think twice!).

i can use room reverb for the lead, if when ajusted the lead stand out in the mix, i know also the guitar need a bit of color, i want to know the algorythm i have to use for color the guitar a little.

after that i am far away from that, but i would realy have the lead like in this video :

in my try i can get anything close to that anyway^^

I mostly hear the delay in that clip, so I don't know if this could come close... but for similar lead sounds, I like to use a smooth delay (the Kjaerhus Classic, or NF Echoes and such). If I have to name an algorithm out of the eleven to put after the delay, I'd say Narcissus right now. Others might disagree (I might also tomorrow

Well, I suck at matching guitar settings, I never actually tried to match a solo setting... prefer to test compressors and the likes!
Anyhow, I'd start with an usual high-gain tone (with mids less scooped than for the rhythm and some other tweaks to taste), an analogue-like delay sync'd to 1/4, hi-pass slightly higher than the one I'd set on the EQ, 10 to 15% wet signal (but it could wildly vary depending on the device), feedback 10 to 30% (same). Today I'd chose Narcissus, not so much ER, between 1,5 and 2 sec., hi cut below 8kHz and some pre-delay to let the attack bite.

Mind you, I'm on horrible 2 inches PC spekers at the moment.

[Edit: Oh, you don't actually NEED to put it before the reverb, you could surely do the other way around - make up your mind (and experiment): do you want the delay to repeat the reverbered guitar or the guitar+dly to pass through the rev? I go for the latter, as it appears to smooth out the repeats]

What would be the best algorithm?
And what you think about the "depth" slider? where it should be?

I had a ValhallaRoom user on Twitter ask me for a mastering reverb preset. Since I can't paste ValhallaRoom presets into 140 characters, here's my take on a "mastering" reverb:

If you listen to this preset on its own, it doesn't sound very good at all. The idea is that you would put this on a send, follow it with an EQ plugin to cut out the lows (below 150 Hz or so) and highs (above 6-7 kHZ), and then turn up the send level just enough until you can hear a difference, then back off the send slightly. You shouldn't "hear" the reverb, but things should sound different when you mute the send channel.

The goal of this preset is to add a small amount of very short ambience, without any real sustain, and with as little coloration as possible. Try adjusting Late Size to control the coloration of the space. By placing this over an entire mix (or having the reverb shared by a number of elements in a mix), you add a tiny amount of "glue" to the mix, where all of the elements share the same amount of short reverb. The different delays in the left and right channels will also widen the stereo image.

Would I use this while mastering? I dunno. I've never mastered anything before, and I don't know if I would use a reverb while mastering. Still, running a mix through this reverb on a send with low volume and low/high EQ cut has created a bit of "space" in the mixes I have tried, without sounding like an obvious reverb. So I figured people might find this useful.

Hi,

is it possible to make a certain preset as default preset so that this one loads automaticly when I insert Valhallaroom ?
I have one preset that I use as base for own creations all the time and it would be great, if that one weas loaded automaticly.
