However, in version 1.0.2 some settings a little biased.
For example presets with a fixed phase of the oscillator will be quite a bit different sound.
We'll fix that soon in the next update. The rest of the sound is identical.
That is awesome to hear! :)

Good news :)
Thanks for the clarification.
Appreciated.

Totally unuseable for me, extreme CPU hungry :

3-voices chord, 3 oscilators (2 classic, 1 FM) = CPU over in Cubase 7

What cpu, os and version, build of Cubase 7? Also what bit/freq range (24b/96khz 16b/44.1khz etc) and buffer size on your audio interface?

Seems like some kind of strange denormal problem.. but more info is better than less info in tracking the bugs I think.

It is not proven one or the other way until I've done a proper ABX test and right now I don't have the time nor patience for one. If any of you suddenly hear something just because I've voiced my opinion, you can be 100% sure it's placebo in your case.

The difference, if any, is very small.. but irritating to my ears. Not sure how large a role the different envelope shape has to do with it but I'll investigate once I get some spare time (my daughter just had her 7th birthday and invited all her class mates.. yeah.. it was CHAOS! Never knew more than a dozen 7 year olds can cause gray hairs. I just got massive new respect for any and all teachers across the globe! Tomorrow I'm in a coma).

Googled the Placebo fx VST - couldn't find it anywhere!!

Mind you would make a great name for an effect!!

But to put your mind at rest, I swapped back to V1 before looking on the internet, as the difference between Spire V1 and V1.02 (to my ears) was so noticeable, it didn't work in the mix as it had before.

Only then did I look on the internet to see if it was just me that had noticed a difference. (I was concerned that either I was loosing it - very possible!! or somebody else would surely comment, so your post put my mind at rest that I wasn't going completely mad!! )

Yeah, I had heard the difference as well and was coming here to post, but BManic had already got the ball rolling. I'm going to stay on 1.0 for now.

There is so much going on with this synth that I decided to postpone another demoing of it for next year. Why bother? It'll work properly at some point. Until then there's other 66 that I use and that work properly. :hihi:

disclaimer: I don't use 66 VSTis. Not even close to 66. I just like the number. :D

Except that it won't let me install over a "newer" version. I've manually uninstalled the AU component, but what else needs to be nuked before it will let me reinstall 1.0? I can't seem to find any of the usual suspects: prefs, application support stuff... On Mac OS and only ever installed the AU version. Anybody?

this sorta cracks me up. the differences are SO minute, and...i doubt anyone listening to your music is gonna call you on it
("hey, i was listening to that song on my iphone, and realized the lead synth was lacking slightly in high end edge")

but...if you HAVE to do this...download 'easyfind', look for invisible files on your hard drive (you'll find TWO "com.revealsound.etc" files in receipts.

move those files to trash, reboot, install. PROCEED WITH CAUTION (as with all things 'invisible' or hidden....)

Hmm. Thanks, but easyfind isn't finding anything like that, and revealing hidden files via the terminal isn't finding anything in receipts either.

Run this command in Terminal to find the files:

Code: Select all

sudo find / -iname "com.revealsound.*"

That did it - thank you, Bill.

you had to search for 'invisible files' and START from the hard drive. but either way, you worked it out. cool!
