I think Squids was responding from Vancouver (or at least on the road)- he likely can't update the website with the new info he posted here.

Is there still going to be an additional free something for those of use that didn't need the Sampletank engine since we already owned ST2?

Sorry, double posted :help:

I just bit the bullet and went in twice! Some nice stuff in the electric guitar and arp packs. The drum packs have nothing on BFD or EZDrummer but I think they'll be useful for trashy sounding breakdowns... Fingers crossed we get to 6x1 so I'll have basically everything covered. Got to say again I'm loving the potential of Sampletank. So easy to make so many sounds, really like the reverb and the slicer, can anyone recommend some channel strip plugins that are similar for OS X?

ik in an email i just got wrote:When 4,000 product registration are received, everyone who participates in the Group Buy will get a Sixth Xpansion Tank 2 for FREE. Even more if this goal is reached quickly.
i'm still wondering what this "even more" is and how quickly we need to get to 4000 to get it

after having bought in twice into the group buy i just want to comment shortly on the expansion tanks i got.

Cinematik Collection: ok, nice mix of soundfx, orchestral sounds and pads.

Hip Hop Instrumtents: good, high quality synth sounds, some nice orchestral sounds. don't expect too much of the drums, i find them boring. this one's not limited to hiphop at all, the synth sounds can be used in other styles of music, too.

Omni Synth 2: ok,a nice gm bank, nothing spectacular but the instruments are useable.

Piano Collection 2: very good! this is a nice collection of pianos. although the samplesets cant be too big the supplied instruments are "workstation grade" in my view. very inspiring, nice selection!

SampleArp and SampleOB Xpander: ok-good, there are not too many instruments but still some nice ones. there's inconsistency with regard to levels, which is annoying while stepping through the instruments. anyway i feel the supplied samples are nice but the programming is weak.

Symphony Strings 2: ok-good! nice selection of strings, although no multiple layers i think. but for what it is (very cheap) definitely worth it.

Vintage Keys Collection: good! there is one hammond, one wurly, one rhodes, and one CP70 all in good quality! the rest of the instruments are to me rather unknown but nice!

Vocal Collection: ok-good! nice samples, weak programming.

World Instruments Collection: weak. this is the one soundset i'm really disappointed with. the world sounds of my old XP-30 beat these easily.

So out of the ten i expansion tanks, if i would join for the first time a selection of these would give killer bang for the buck in my opinion:

Piano Collection
Vintage Keys Collection
Hip Hop Instruments Collection
Symphony Strings 2
Omnisynth 2 or SampleArp or SampleOB Xpander

Many thanks to krank for the epointz! :D

Join through esoundz for the extra library, and when you do, don't forget to refer someone. It will mean epointz for both you, and the person you refer. epointz can be used for SR downloads through esoundz and downloadablesoundz.com.

Thanks for your review abi.

Keep in mind that with all of these instrument packs (and especially with the World Instruments Collection) you are building a library of instruments which you can pick and choose from, as needed. While you may like the World music instruments from another sample library or Keyboard more than some of these, there are undoubtably some fantastic and perfect sounding instruments which will eventually prove themselves to be more suited to a particular song, than anything else you have.

And in addition to that, remember that most eSoundz instruments are intentionally recorded raw and unprocessed so that you can process them in whatever way you want to with more effective control. I daresay that you will probably enjoy and appreciate many more of those World Instruments if you go through them with a nice convolution reverb applied to the ST channel, or maybe add another favorite effect to add more pizzazz. There are some seriously useful instruments in all of these packs. You can turn any of these instruments into real gems with a little bit of third party plugin processing.

And for what is soon going to work out to be $4.16 a pack, this is the deal of the century. Do you guys realize that at that price these instruments are literally being sold for pennies? Some of these packs have more than 200 parent instruments or loops in them which means that each instrument or loop is costing you only 1 or 2 cents each. It is mind blowing. :o :-o :o :-o :o

I have most of this stuff already, and paid a lot more for it previously... but for those of you who don't, I'd join a third time and take advantage of some additional packs, for sure.

I joined the GB, and have spent most of today trying different browsers, accepting cookies, deleting cookies, and trying to login to my IK user area.

When I did manage to login, the main zip file (almost 1gb) could not be passed on to a download manager, but had to be handled by the browsers inbuilt downloader.

So far I have installed ST2 and the 1gb sounds, but none of the presets can find the samples, although I can load them all manually.

Registration took all of 2 hours (with coffee), and could only be done when you find out the hard way, that the serial number they send in the email, cannot be used to register the product.

I have not received any hint as to where the Group Buy sound packs can be downloaded, so am going to wait until tomorrow, to find out just how many things I did wrong...

All up, I'm not very impressed with the way IK handle things, and I feel the hoop jumping is a bit too much.

But... I'll try again in the morning...

Really sorry to hear that you have had that much trouble. It is supposed to be much simpler than that, although I admit that the IK system is not so user-friendly for the uninitiated.

If you have gotten to the stage of registering SampleTank, the packs should already be available in your IK user area. Go to your User Area, and you should find the pack options under both the Promotions link and the Multi-box link.

well i didn't want to bash any product here. and of course there are useable things in all packs. but it seems reasonable to me to point out the differences in quality among the packs. some are rather polished and "workstation grade" out of the box (like the hiphop instruments or the piano collection) and others will take some work (like the vocal or world collection) to make them sound well imo.

nevertheless, even the instruments i find a bit weak make a good job when it comes to layering. it's so easy to have nice sounding combos with all this sample material and fx at hand...

Loging into the user area is rather 'hit and miss' - I usually end up watching a promotion for iPhone app's, then end up at the beginning...

Better luck tomorrow... :?
