Slight change of plans. Since the dark version looked nothing like the real programmer, ive decided to ditch that and make it Roland-Grey instead. IMO this was a good move, since the perceived contrast of the whole thing has increased manyfold. Same goes for the legibility of the printings, which is now so good that i dont really have a problem with it anymore, considering how bad it usually is at that small size.

Next i will see what i can do with the display.

It's a bit too grey now, although the contrast has generally improved. Try to add some brown into that grey, since that's how the actual PG is.

Any chance you could provide a good digital image of your unit under normal daylight conditions?

One that would allow me to determine the correct color tone?

Right now is has the grey of the 101, so it was bound to be somewhat off.

(Although i really do like it. If it wasnt for better authenticity i wouldnt even want to change it anymore.)

I will try. Although the pic that I already posted (the one where it sits atop the MKS-70) was taken under regular daylight. It's just done with a cellphone so it's a tiny bit noisy

I tried taking a pic of it in front of the monitor with your mockup on it, it didn't turn out all too good but it can be seen that the actual PG has a tiny bit of brown in its grey. Pics 2 and 4 are probably the most representative.

P1010867a will do fine as it shows this greenish-brown tone of the casing and the creamy grey of the controls rather well.

I can work with that.

Automatic white balance will probably not help getting a truly accurate result.

It's best to use a camera offering custom white balance against a white paper. Or to use a Kodak Grey Card as part of the subject for accurate correction in PS or similar.

why dont you just airmail the unit to him so he can get it dead perfect?
