Hmm, to me it kinda looks like Perfect Circuit made that on their own, as it is not really consistent with any of the Make Noise graphics I've seen. I'd be surprised if it actually is hinting at anything other than the event.

^^^... yeah, it's possibly a cropped-n-chopped colorized google-maps shot of their parking lot.

That looks interesting, thanks for the suggestion. What are the advantages of putting them in a Nifty case over using them stand alone?Shabdahbriah wrote: Sat Jul 09, 2022 10:08 am Were I just starting out (and were not as spoiled)... I would lean towards a Nifty case, and put these in it.![]()

That's a really, really good question. As soon as I read it I was likeSHall1000 wrote: Sun Jul 10, 2022 8:39 amThat looks interesting, thanks for the suggestion. You could thus save yourself $200, without the Nifty, as I really don't see any major game-changing advantage (now) as the West Pest has MIDI in (as does the Nifty), and that input would be translated via the CV out to the Mavis.

Sooo.... I had been thinking about acquiring one, but dont really have desk- or (unallocated) rack-space for a West Pest, but it has kinda prompted some thinking about getting a good wavefolder/waveshaper.
Ive already got a couple of Doepfer modules in that territory (A-136 Distortion/Waveshaper,A-137-1 Wave Multiplier and a pair of A-116 Waveform Processors) but Im wondering about something more complex.
So I'd been thinking about the Befaco Chopping Kinky, but the kit seems unavailable, and built its actually more expensive than some more complex alternatives, for example, the After Later Dirty Laundry and the Modulaire Maritime Tarot.
Bothof those are about the same in cost, and actually available in the UK right now, and about as much I can spare in pennies and HP. The Tarot sounds 'nicer' and more rounded to me, and the Dirty Laundry a lot more distort-y, but it does seem to have more CV modulation, plus a handy VCA.
Any thoughts or suggestions? Juno also have the TipTop Audio Fold, for example which is about 30% cheaper, as well as maybe a bit simpler, and the Noise Lab Wrinkler which also seems simpler.

An idiot on Set Theory:

Chopping Kinky ^^^ Love mine! I would (personally) definitely recommend it over the Tip Top Fold, which I found to be pretty 'meh' by comparison, and promptly sold it. The Befaco has a definite character, that seems to embrace anything I throw at it, in a manner that I find very appealing, and often surprising (serendipitous). Relatively easy build (two-three casually paced hours). [2c]

Hmmm. Looking at the parts list for the CK, there's not much i dont already have (the analog switch IC's basically), and Thonk still have the panel/pcb set...

I had a Tip Top Fold Processor and didn't love it.
I'm kind of picky about wavefolder tone, though -- I like the Intellijel and Pittsburgh ones, Antimatter Audio Crossfold and MI Warps. I'm not as fond of the sound of the Delta Origami, DPO or 0-Coast folders (or the Tip Top).
Bifold would probably be my choice, though Bastl Timber and Waver also seem promising.

A tease from Make Noise:
The glyphs make me think of unison detune in Serum. Or maybe scan on a harmonic oscillator or resonant EQ or something... hmmm.
I went to the live channel today and saw there’s a Carlos staying up in the EU. I hope he realizes there’s another week to go too.
Shab, Maths 3?
like really early morning, as in last night... how can i be trusted to make a sensible decision on purchasing at this time???

Definitely not the most exciting piece of equipment in my studio, but this is what I'll be getting next for its practical use.
I'll probably pick up the less beautiful, but cheaper, rack mount version.

I've always really liked the Toppobrillo TWF. Synthcube has a kit but that may not be practical for you: https://synthcube.com/cart/toppobrillo- ... ption=truewhyterabbyt wrote: Sun Jul 10, 2022 12:33 pm Sooo.... A favorite of mine as well. Very versatile. Got the new black panel and MN/MI knobs, to update my older model.justin3am wrote: Mon Jul 11, 2022 4:26 amI've always really liked the Toppobrillo TWF.whyterabbyt wrote: Sun Jul 10, 2022 12:33 pm Sooo.... Hmmm, given he has most of the parts for the CK, and the panel and PCB are available at Thonk, and the price of the full TWF kit at Synthcube, he could have two new WF's for the price of one of the (other) pre-builts. ... Hmmm.

I love my FM Aid, which is a wavefolder that can act as a saw->sin shaper for phase mod synthesis.
There's an NLC Product PCB/panel in my "to build" box which looks like a lot of fun.
If I remember rightly the Vult Wolv is pretty much the same thing as the Ian Fritz Wavolver II?
