Deleted a couple unfinished songs I know I didn't like and had been mostly sitting on my harddrive.
Mastered something that I did like.

not bad, got most of my stuff here today, but it's all stacked in the front room, while i build some shelves
it's gonna be a tight fit in there
cats a bit out of sorts, but he'll settle soon enough. especially once he realises we have a yard he can come out and enjoy

i got a new tune happening from a small set of drum loops that i made.
the progress is SO SLOW. the mix quality is good but the tune is not exciting.
i realised that i don't really know how to make exciting tunes anymore; the ideas are NOT flowing.
i felt good that i got anything done at all but also i kinda felt bummed out.

Final tweaks on a couple of tracks before mastering album #42.
After I release this one I'm going to do a couple more technical studies. One on Xaoc Odessa, then on Make Noise Spectraphon (which will keep me busy for a while, there's a lot to cover).

i got that tune done that i'd mentioned, but it sounds kinda dissonant. I'm calling it "Dismay".
However, it's the first tune i've done with some dubstep triplets successfully.
I couldn't get Reaper's quantizing to work with me, even with a custom grid, so I just played in the wubs and dragged them to the gridlines of a 12/8 meter grid. Damn it, Reaper, I need proper flexible quantizing. LOL You can't play quantized triplets via a straight 1/8th grid. (obviously)

I picked up ToneX (IK guitar software) in the recent sale and so was playing around with some of the presets people have posted up for free and there are some great ones out there. Was using a template one someone had created for kind of 80’s heavily lush chorused stuff like Bette Davis Eyes and it was gorgeous. To the point I decided against buying a new guitar and will stick my Tokai HSS strat in for a makeover instead.

Ordered a Mac Mini M4. I have the M2 MacBook Air and tried to use this as a replacement for the iMac, until hitting the RAM wall.
8GB of “Unified memory” powering a 34” widescreen monitor, and 3 Kontakt tracks choked up quickly. 8GB is not much, but didn’t think about what unified memory meant until running into this.
I don’t really use large libraries like I used to, so I’m hoping I can get away with 24GB.
If this works out, the only drawback to replacing the iMac will be losing 2Caudio’s Breeze. I just realized I’ve had it on my default template since it was released, so that’ll going to be fun figuring out a replacement. Otherwise, I might consider buying a used Intel Mac mini in the future.
Update: delivered today & started the migration process.
Hoping for a working system.

Made a few drum rhythms in FL Studio (demo) and exported stems to WAV; felt okay about it.
Listened to a lot of ambient on https://oem-radio.org to get ideas (some of the same tunes are on YouTube also).
Talked to a friend about music making as a challenging hobby.

Behringer Spice arrived today and this evening was spent catching onto some cool patches and losing them again.
Think I will get the most joy out of it if I record jams and then cut things down into loops of a few bars long for resampling.
