That's a tough job description. Especially as if you get it wrong, you end up looking like a complete c**t.

Still, I'm sure you wouldn't make any mistakes.

FWIW, frozen tracks are just *something* else.
I mean, hello?!? Why the f**k can't I just mute or solo them in my project window? That's just as lame as it could get. It's possible to mute/solo them in the mixer (ok, there's the "bug" (I'm tempted to call it another "spaced out design feature") egbert mentioned, but hey...), but, assuming you can adapt to the "mixer equals project window" paradigm, which is what the b0rg are sort of promoting all through SX, why in the world won't it work for frozen tracks? That's just another prime example of an oxymoron.

stag, sorry, but that just doesn't make sense to me. When I select a track in my project window, I want it to be soloed, period. This just doesn't happen under certain conditions (and yes, I allways have a mixer floating on my second monitor, so it applies very often to me!).

It was clear to me from the begining it don´t make sense to you, but that´s pretty clear to me, on programs where background rendering is not available, things could work other way, not in SX.

Post

What the hell would this have to do with background rendering?

i suspect all of this debate is a little pointless

yes it is an annoying feature but 3.1 (released today or tommorow according to cubase.net) features new mixer key commands and features - this almost certainly means that some of the errr.... features sacha describes will change

they will almost certainly be broken in some other way but ...
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

Yeah you're so kewl. f**king no-life.
I didn't want to argue or have a 'pop', but you obviously do.
So i asked you, in a pm, who the f**k you think you are, going after me.
And yes, in a PM, to keep the bullshit out of the forums and thread. Hard for you to graps?
But keep coming if you want, you wont win.
Now go get a life.

Sure. Personally, I never meant this to be a debate, just a rant (that's what the topic says...).

I'm not sure whether these will be adressed. I would almost take a bet they won't be, as it'd require some sort of paradigm change - which Steinberg has never been open to all that much.
they will almost certainly be broken in some other way but ...
Most likely. Personally, from what has been published so far, I can't see all that much of important things being adressed anyways. Well, at leat it's very few stuff that'd matter for me.

mixer follows the selection in the arrange - very handy and logic esque

i suspect that may change how the solo and mutes work

new commands and shortcuts for the mixer - not sure what these are but they might alter it too

still i have to say the solo thing never bothered me

wht i'm waiting for is vst automation on my external hardware - all those lovely lfo's etc assigned to external hardware - and all recalled with the song

might even tempt be to buy more external kit

Sorry to say so, but it's not Logic-esque at all when it comes to VSTis, as it simply won't follow.
Yeah, it will follow and select the MIDI channels - but seriously, of how much use is that when it comes to VSTis? Usually you want to be taken to the audio channel straight away. SX just isn't capable of that.

All of this works fine here.

Never "defective user" is it.
So what -- are you just roaming the forum looking for fights?
Not exactly a challenge for the long distance psychoanalyst is he. ;-)

Cry-Baby - why don't you get one of those inflatable clown things with the weighted hemispherical base? You can take out your frustrations in the privacy of your own room and people all over the world will have no idea that you are a cnut.
