I was actually born in Sheffield.

I've been here most of my life, um... well, not in this forum but in the States.

There's tons and tons of stuff ready to go. The trouble is getting it in. Even satellite phones aren't working for some reason!

The big problem is the lawlessness and communication.

I'd personally never live in a city that was below the sea level. I remember when I was in auto racing back in 92. The New Orleans GP was canceled due to flooding. I'd never seen so much water in the streets!

The bad thing is it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

I just hope I hear from my friends, soon.

I met him a while ago, at a 'venue' where I also happened to be playing. I had no idea Big Star were even on the bill, and the first "clue" I had, was the day before, seeing this "strangely familiar" guy eating at the table next to mine...

The next night, I was availing myself of various AAA privileges, when I heard these "strangely familiar" chords strike up from the main stage. "Surely...it can't be...it IS!!!

". Seeing him play, (so unexpectedly, by pure chance, and having long assumed I never ever would) and meeting him afterwards into the bargain was probably the highlight of my entire negligible "career".

I met an Afghan Wig recently, a couple of times, and conversation revolved - naturally enough - around music, but kept coming back to Alex Chilton. I don't wish him any more luck than anyone else stuck in New Orleans at the moment, but...well...

I'm exhausted. I just got back from the office. My stats for the day: 432 donatation calls. People crying, people outraged, people frustrated and all trying to help. It's an emotional roller-coaster. We're redirecting a lot of calls to the Red Cross. There's PLENTY of food on it's way. Getting in is not a problem, get out with enough fuel is.

yeah, I saw him play - again, almost by accident - when i was 13 or 14. I'd never really heard of him before then, although "Blueberry Hill" was part of the furniture. I was "impressed"; I think it was the first time I was consciously aware of someone playing music for the joy of it, and that's what made the biggest impression.

Domino 'shaken' by storm ordeal

Fats Domino has rarely appeared in public in recent years
Blues legend Fats Domino, who had been reported missing in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, is fine though "a bit stressed out", his agent has said.

Domino, who was among those who chose not to leave New Orleans, is said to have spent the last few days at a friend's apartment in Baton Rouge.

"We've lost everything", he told the Washington Post, adding he did not know what to do next.

"I'm worried about all the people of New Orleans," he added.

"Tell them I love them, and I wish I was home with them. I hope we'll see them soon."

His agent, Al Embry, said Domino's relatives and friends were concerned about his fate until Thursday evening, when one of his daughters, Karen Domino White, recognised him in a picture published by the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

The photograph showed a man resembling the artist being helped out of a rescue boat.

Domino was rescued from his home on Monday along with his wife and at least one daughter, but his whereabouts remained unclear until Friday.

More than one million people were evacuated from New Orleans and the surrounding areas before the hurricane struck, but Mayor Ray Nagin has estimated that up to 100,000 people remained in the city.

The singer and pianist, whose real name is Antoine Domino, has sold more than 110m records, including Blueberry Hill and Ain't That A Shame.

He had nearly 20 US Top 20 singles between 1955 and 1960.

Among the last of them was Walking to New Orleans, a Bobby Charles composition that became a string-laden tribute to the city that inspired him.
