Ahh..excellent..I get chastised for immaturity in a thread where someone wants to discuss how musicians have sex with barnyard animals..

How does my shit taste?

Emdot, I'm not surprised you like all these talented artists, but I am a little shocked  that you are oblivious to their "quirks". I've listed them below...

Eno (definitely full of quirks but no single outstanding one, unless you count gayness)
Fripp - Super Gay
Edgar Froese - Gay For Pay
Peter Baumann - Gay-er than Salvador Dali's Moustache
Klaus Schulze - Never Pays For Drinks
Morton Subotnick - Basis For Character "Jack" on Will and Grace
Philip Glass - Nice Caboose
Terry Riley - We Frenched Once, and That Counts
Steve Reich - "Queens-Reich"
Mike Oldfield - Mike "Gay-Field"
Vangelis - Vaginas
JM Jarre - Michelle?
Jon Anderson - Wears Toga
Ian Anderson - Plays Skin Flute
Todd Dockstodder - First and Last Names Both Contain "Todd"
Ralf Hutter - Up the Butter
Florian Schnieder - Reads Vanity Fair
Richard Pinhas - "My Friends Call Me "Dick Penis"

There you have it... Hard Evidence!

Didn't Eno drink his own pee?

I always suspected Ratt did...I mean they did have a song "you're in Love"... :hihi:
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Okay, now that I've made a complete jackass of myself (see above :D), I'm going to tell you what I really think.

I disagree with people who say that artists are like everyone else. I think artists have a different relationship with their emotions than others. If a stock broker feels like jumping out the window, he jumps, or else lives with the feeling of wanting to have done so. If an artist feels like jumping out the window, he jumps, or else he writes a song about jumping out a window (I know, I'm oversimplifying). The stock broker, assuming he lives, can probably never hope to take his feelings and use them to contribute to some part of himself that he actually values. An artist can, and that's why I say the relationship an artist has with his feelings is skewed.

Edited one time for italics.
Edited a second time for a missing parenthesis.

Don't forget "You're in Trouble". :hihi:

Seriously, Hink, my favorite guitar solo of all time is the one on "Never Use Love". A guy I know claims it was played by the late Robin Crosby, and not the great Warren DiMartini.

Maybe the Mod can move this post over to the Ratt forum?

He admits to tasting it once while drunk. He's never admitted to making it a habit. So that's a one-time case of drunken self-dare/curiosity, not a full-blown habitual quirk.

P.S. Hewitt, Warren DiMartini was Robin Crosby's leather-bound boy toy. So there :P

am i the only one who finds it particularly appalling that the person who started this thread is putting homosexuality into the same catagory as cultistism, suicide and addiction...and considers all the above mere "quirks"?

since when are those quirks? I dont consider someone being homo a quirk at all as it really isnt that effecting of one's personality.

Except for particularly gay genres, i dont think it would show at all.

I think things like elliot smith's or Vincent Vangough's cripling depression, or that one drummer chicks' deafness, etc etc.

What about those artists who are so full of themselves every song is "Oh, i'm so broken me me me there is no f**king you there is only me," or artists that think they have totally invented a genre that has clearly been around for decades. You know the self-important twats I am speaking of.
Unfortunatley, many fans see this self-obsession and totally fall into the trap and believe it.
Okay, I'm talking about f**king NIN, alright???
