Pink Floyd parted ways with Roger Waters when I was 2 years old. Frank Zappa died when I was 11 years old. White Zombie split when I was 13, Morgoth broke up when I was 14.

I had heard Theatre of Tragedy before, but never really cared for them. I just started enjoying them recently, only to remember that they kicked out Liv (Their female vocalist) and started a techno band, which is even worse than just breaking up.

Nothing quite ruins the credibility of a metal band like writing upbeat club music.

Same here. I actually heard "There Is a Light that Never Goes Out" on a late night Spanish radio program before they disbanded. I loved it and tried to find out about a band called "The Esmis." Unfortunately, The Smiths were no more when I started buying their albums. They still get played more than anything else on my playlists.

I was going to mention him! thought it might be stating the obvious, though.
Back in the late 60's early 70's, I'd read about him, seen his name on song credits and was really curious.
took a trip to mississippi and thought i was on holy ground.
It was 1976 (or 77) before Columbia finally reissued his stuff. still gives me chills.

I saw Anikulapo Fela Kuti in 1992. Never heard of him before that, and he left this world very shortly after. Saw Klaus Nomi in 1982... didn't think much of him at the time, but in retrospect, I really liked him.

Got a long, long list of personal musician friends who died, but that's another story.
