Hi
I'm getting there.... This clip was put together with Boogex:
Boogex & Ibanez AK85 sample

Boogex settings:
- Cabinet 9 4x12 Close
- Lows -3,7dB, Mids 1,5dB & Highs -6,1dB
- Tone 71,3%, Drive 0,0dB, Dynamics 71,1%, Phase 0,0%

I also added slightly modulation and reverb with other plug-ins - but not much.

Pretty good!! I wouldn't say you had to look any further, but then, when it's your own tone you're so much more prone to be picky. :D

As someone who listens to live jazz I'd say you are right on! I love the tone and now I need to find boogex and try it out. Does anyone think I can still get this sound with a guitar soundfont/VSTi? Please, no "why don't you just go and buy a guitar?"! All my money goes to my Bass! :D

I don't think you'll get this specific jazz sound with a soundfont/VSTi. It's almost entirely about the player's fingers and only partially about the selection of notes. You need that "lively touch" in the fretting hand to pull it off.

Hey, whoever first recommended Boogex sure was clever. That sounds great.

DL the Rednef twin and cut the treble and vibrato and don't use the reverb. I think that will work quite well if you have a proper jazz guitar.

You might try adding www.kjaerhusaudio.com classic free effects, like chorus and delay, if you want to spice things up a bit.
Here is my small version:
