Without any end in sight...

There is the possibility to purchase Advertizing here on KVR, by the way. Then he can put 100 banners if he want.
Also he has its private "banner" in his signature. Isn't that enuff anywhen ???

He could at least say something to the topics. BUT he merely skipps in and does penetrant advertizing. Only. Nothing more. Nothing less.

That is a kind of forum mis-usage too, right?

.
So? Who the flippin' frack cares? This is not a "members only" forum. I happen to like the input and DID find, much to the antithesis of this theoretical behavioral nonsensical crap (as duly opposed to the sensical kind, btw) that ANY and all input SUGGESTING even something REMOTELY similar helps ME PERSONALLY find things I would never have found out otherwise.

Thanks, Paul, for posting your "canned ham" as I know that I get more out of your "one liners" than I do from protocol-dummies (as opposed to protocol droids, obviously, like C3PO) who don't even have enough personal strength in their own beliefs to have a signature with a real name, and thus behind a "mask", which should be a sad or dare I saw anrgy face instead of a "wink' as that seems to fit the personality better.

And Mr. "Winky", just so you know, none of this is personal. I don't know you OR Paul, but on the posts I've seen you on so far you've done nothing but complain, and Paul has done nothing but suggest an alternative or supplemental solution.

What products does YOUR company make? Quite a few, I would imagine, but the strict adherence to your marketing protocols means I'll never hear of them, as some people have life to live instead of debating right from wrong over something as useless and as stupid and meaningless as a audio plug-in forum. (Not that the info here is such, but the scope of this is.)

In fact, you know what? I'd personally like for you to leave this forum and I'm asking for you to refrain from posting unless contributive. The 15 minutes it took me to write this could have been doing something quite more productive in the current needs that I have with a company headquarts wiped out in New Orleans and wondering how long payroll is going to last so I can feed my newborn boy. The 5 or so minutes that I "get" (no - "take" is a better word) is a reward for me and a mental break and this meaningless drivel should really stop for the benefit of us all - or at least the few willing to go places besides being locked in a darkened room with our saintly ideas. (New Orleans NFL Football Team - The "Saints", by the way.)

Again, Mr nameless, this isn't against you - you do seem to have a lot to contribute.

I just wish you would start doing so.

Thank you for your time.

There is a crying baby I must feed.

You should hire me to do the vocals... :hyper:

edit: Just having fun to lighten up the thread. 8)

I did a bunch of voice acting with my own voice on a game I worked on.... granted, I used my Eventide, and they aren't cheap, but I just had to get creative with lots of different effects, and just working what my momma gave me. Grab some of the weirder effects out there, and see what they produce. Either that, or find some voice talent. You'd be surprised what you can come up with by just experimenting and listening carefully to the world around you. For example, I got a nice 'alien' voice effect by pitching up the left channel 100 cents and down the right channel 100 cents with no dry signal.

PERSONALLY, and I know this goes against what chimmy was saying, but *I* would hire Rock to do the vocals.

how can we hear what you sound like for animation voice talent rock? i'm always trying to build up a list of actors for the heck of it so..

I guess I could do some sample recordings this week...

Lunch, I did not say anything against Rock's ability to do vocals. I don't know Rock, which is why I added the edit statement. So he wouldn't take me wrong. You don't know me so don't attempt to apply meanings to my words other than what I myself type.

To Rock, I in no way meant to offend you and I apologize if I did.

It was totally a joke, dude. ;) Humour! The reason it was funny is because it didn't at ALL go against what you were saying, but rather was EXACTLY what you said with no modification at all. ;) ;) I was trying to join you in the humour.

It's like when people say, "The hours are long, the job is unrewarding, but at least the pay sucks."

Ok, I appreciate all of your enthusiasm. Please keep in mind two things.

First, I am not a skilled synth tech like you guys. So give me a term and a definition in the same sentence or paragraph.

Second, I am lo-budget for any new project. Once I find a method that works, then I get out my wallet.

So here is where I am at. I understand that formants can be applied to a sound to make it be *enunciated* like the vocal source applied. That is the classic VOCODER effect if I understand correctly.

However, I have a different need. I am creating character voices. So I need (ideally on a single pass but multi pass will do) to shift the pitch, add the harmonics and any other factor necessary to make my voice sound like someone or something else. And it has to be believable, not from OZ.

Now in a production mode, that means I would record and save all the dialog parts in wav form. Then pass those to be altered thru Audicity with the necessary changes.

Has anyone in this forum actually done this before?

I do not mean to be harsh, its just that I spend 80% of my development time on animation, not music. So I am trying to come up to speed, you know?

Any suggestions?

I don't think so... Nothing beats the real thing in this: real actors with real different voices.

It's like silicone implants. At first people think: wow! But after some time you want the real stuff, no fake...

DSP with attitude

Just a quick update for those of you who are joining late...

The demo by Midiworks was appreciated, however, I know how to convert text to speech so that is not an option.

Also, regarding live voice talent, I reserve that for important commissions or works that have passed the *proof of concept* stage.

I am currently testing the ChoirBoy VST plugin with the Audacity program. I have forwarded some questions to the author since it is not working as expected. However it is probably my fault as a first time user, so no blame there.

Now, again, if someone has attempted this task before or has knowledge of a document describing the differences between male, female, young, old voices I would be happy to look at it.

Sincerely,
