Well, I've only tried the v1 bluetubes plugins and they were definately overpriced mediocre sounding plugins with pretty GUIs. The sound must have improved quite a bit lately eh?

Possibly. I'm pretty sure my demo was the latest version. Just for poops and grins you might try the new demo. It's free for 7 or 10 days or so.bmanic wrote:Well, I've only tried the v1 bluetubes plugins and they were definately overpriced mediocre sounding plugins with pretty GUIs. Probably because it's DX. It can be used in VST environments but only with something like the FFX wrapper which is a bit awkward perhaps. The company really should make a VST version - can't be that hard surely and they are missing out on a huge market - their reverb is excellent but I won't use DX effects if I can help it.kilroy wrote:Bit surprised why CompX does not get more attention round here, myself. Good versatile compressor with class, and attitude. Been using it since it first came out and it is still a favorite when I am working in digital environments.

Yea, seems weird, since they have three different platforms covered already---all but the most common one.aMUSEd wrote:Probably because it's DX. post some examples of Comp-X along with the unprocessed wav and I'll post BT processed then.Alan wrote:I'll take the TimeWorks Compressor-X over those 2 hands down, and I also don't think that either BlueTubes or TRacks comps sound anything remotely like a tube hardware comp, more like digital distortion to my ears. You can add me to the top of the list of those who dislike BlueTubes products, but if they work for you then that's all that matters. It really doesn't matter how you get there,as long as the final result gets you where you want to go.4damind wrote: For tube-like compressors I think TRacks and Blue Tubes are the only alternative to a UAD.

In this thread are audio examples of a bunch of compressors, including compressor x and bluetubes ones.
