There's also GClip from GVST:
http://homepages.tesco.net/~graham.yeadon/gvst/
Easiest and most unpleasant way would be to just turn the volume up on your signal until it clips where you want, record, then turn it down to your desired level. Digital max means it'll clip at -0db no matter what, only plugin you'll need really is an amplitude gain.

OK,
I should have read it more carefully. Full hard clipping with full aliasing, yes!!!
Best wishes, FRitz

dblue you are amazing! exactly what i needed, someone listened (read) at least.
gclip is just the ticket too!
the ezeeboogie one is too complex for what want, i cant understand how to use it sorry
its the threshold thing i needed.
but thank you all (with true sincerity).

no worries, its a weird request. i dont think aliasing is created when clipping a sound though, maybe im wrong? anyhow its not the sound of clipping i want, distortion typically has to be of more than 6ms to be audible, so with balance it can be used now and again soley for its practical implications.fritzman wrote:OK,

yes, you're wrong about the aliasing. And where do you have that 6ms thingy from? Check it out, it's wrong.

sorry im being stupid, my analog brain kicked in. 5-10ms is commonly used as the integration time for analog PPM meters, the distortion from transients clipping for shorter durations is considered inaudiable, but this is the analog world.fritzman wrote: Hi wm,

in digital land, even momentary clipping is audiable on most material, but in my case, its for transient heavy (hard dance) drums, with which you can away with some (imo).
now im off to destroy my sounds

no reason to call yourself stupid.
For hard dance drums it's cool as you can surely benefit from some extra smack at the start of the drum hits, right? So have fun cranking up your drums.
All the best, FRitz

lol this topic is cool ! To get that REALLY heavy sound out of a bass drum, I used to digital clip the sample too and it sounded like your typical hardcore dance stuff. I obviously don't do that anymore ... lol
Only compressors go on Dance bass drums these days

I'm stuffed with work now but I can rip out my distortion from SubDuer for you this weekend. It's a nasty digital limiter/distortion unit with a single knob.

Grab a copy of "Brick" from here:

It does *exactly* what you're asking for.

I just love digital clipping. Seriously, I allways wanted some controllable digital clipper without having to bounce down.
And uhm, all those lame hosts with their lame uber-headroom. Just can't clip those motherfucking individual channels without gazillions of gainer plugins.
Warmth sucks!

Where did you hear this?wm wrote: i have elephant which has a clipping mode, but its still semi-limiting from what i hear, and not truely cutting the peaks dead off.
