this thread is enlightening in more than one way since :

1)LA-2A is all tube based compressor
2)this is not SSL chanell compressor but talkback mic
limiter ( nasty and lofi thing in nice own way, by
gospel of SSL users, and one trick pony /same gospel/ )
3)all about compressors thread is pointless it seems, cus
all of comps work the same way
4)nobody ever smashes room mic on drums with nasty
limiters in rock/pop production, it's evil Phil only
5)Mid 80 production estetics are questionable, no doubt,
but now it seems that all that stuff is terribly
engeneered also; lets not use a single trick from
those dark ages
6)SSL don't have production teams that rotate every 2-3
years plus bunch of freelance designers; everything
is done by Mr John SSL
7)lets bash SSL cus it puts its reputation on the line
and puts its name on free plugin, and VST no less
8)lets bash Aleksey from Voxengo cus his stuff is
Wintendo only; there must be some evil conspiracy
behind that
9)let us all shut the f**k up till we get to hear actuall
plugin

Erm..., It sounds like crap, actually...

Might have something to do with the source file. I generally don't compress kicks, snares, and overheads with the same settings. I just took the requested file and mashed it up.
