True. Though I can't say I like the atmosphere of the local scene here too much, which is why I've kind of dropped off the map locally.
Don't know anyone in Toronto besides Knurl (who is, IMO, Canada's finest noise artist, also records as Pyrox and Pholde - the guy who got me into homemade contact mics many years ago when he was still living in Mtl), Flatline Construct (now semi-retired), Obsidian Aspect (now retired) and someone named Sighup or some such thing.

Actually, I've been considering doing live stuff for the last few years, but never get around to getting organized. Maybe I should look around to see what opportunites are in the city. I've never really been sure how easy it was to get in with the Ambient Ping crowd, seems fairly exclusive - not really sure I'd fit in with them either.
Knurl doesn't play here much that I know of. I usually see him advertised elsewhere. It's always a tough sell in Canada if you aren't taking a guitar with you on stage.

I saw Kid 606 recently (this year) in Toronto.
Just fantastic, couldn't stop dancing.
10 mins in and I was sweat soked, slimy, completely unattractive, and intrigued to see what style of music he'd have me dancing to next.
I went to an Atari Teenage Riot concert in Vancouver about 6 years ago.
I think I lost multiple parts of clothing that night.
Crazy mix of people.
Of course, Alex Empire on his own may be a completely different experience.
Going to Steive Reich and Friends Oct 30?
Do you ever check out Wavelength?

That said, anything good going on this weekend?shamann wrote:Worse still, Montreal gets much more of it than Toronto.
