They have a very ragged frequency respose, an undamped cabinet which at spot frequencies is resonating up to 6db more than the drivers.
The bass drivers themselves have a grossly high CES an a pitiful B/L factor, telling me they use cheap and nasty magnets. A cursory glance at said magnets confirms as much.
The evidence of ringing on their mlssa waterfall plot shows quite clearly the effect of underdamped drivers and cabinet.
The 3rd harmonic distortion rises alarmingly as they are pushed close to their meagre xmax.
In short, they’re about as honest as a bent politician.

I don't know anything about these technalities so I can't even verify if you are right nor do I know what that means in effect...

I bought them in a huge and well respected shop (the one which started to sell the Neuron VS that cheap) and I was unsure if I should buy them or slightly more expensive ones (Samson) and the guy recommended me going with the cheaper ones as they're more honest and don't cause as much ear-fatigue. As I was actually a customer not even worth being polite to if you go in terms of business/sales I have no reason to believe he was bullshitting me. I also have no reason to doubt his competence. I also have no reason to doubt my own ears as I of course also checked other monitors when I was there (and they have about any monitor you can think of ready to test).

Oh, and just for the record:

The 3rd harmonic distortion rises alarmingly as they are pushed close to their meagre xmax.

What reason could be there to push them to their max?

- I'm not planning to go deaf that soon

- they are nearfield-monitors...

Just been through SOS "article" as I'm in the market for nearfield in the below $1000.00 range. The conclusion for the 4 "reviews" of 4 differents products are almost identical, looks almost like cut&paste. Those "reviews" are bullshit if you ask me.

No opinion on the Alesis thought as I never heard them myself.

Forget about music industry nonsense like Alesis then. Get yourself the best pair of B&W's you can afford. They will be better designed, better built, better sounding, better looking and much more accurate than the shite that gets punted out as "monitors" at that sector of the market.

If you can afford ATC's it's a different matter.
