I have a Fatar Studiologic SL-990 XP and I love it. Got it second hand for cheap - great buy. The XP model doesn't have aftertouch whereas the Pro model does. I don't think I would want aftertouch, actually - never had a keyboard with aftertouch and I think it would be too strange with a piano-weighted keyboard.
I keep an old keyboard (Ensoniq ESQ-1!) in front of me on the desk for quick synth stuff, and the 88 key is a little out of reach and used for more serious playing.
The SL-990 XP feels very much like a piano to me.

Fatars are inexpensive. Probably some of the cheapest 88 key keyboards you can find. I have played on many keyboards, and it has a very plasticy feel to it. It does not have a realistic piano feel.
Personally I found the Roland FP-3 to have very great action, as well as good sounds. Guess what? Shortly after I bought the FP-3 the FP-5 came out. Same price, except the FP-5 has tone wheel organ modeling and hundreds of presets (the FP-3 has around 40 presets and maybe an additional 40 'super-secret presets' that I discovered). Bummer, but I don't regret the choice. The FP-3 is great live (apart for the limited amount of sounds, which the FP-5 fixes) and as a MIDI controller it is superb.

thanks for all the replies.
Might have a look around for a Fatar then...possibly used.
