A mates just sent me this

Kate Bush interview (about 28 miutes long) on the BBC website - Real Audio format.

This thread really deserves a bump IMHO.
I am totally loving this dual CD set in general.
The woman may be in a world of her own and not up with current "popular" music trends however ....
All I can really say is Thank GOD for that FACT .

ps. On the Elvis thing, you guyz mite like "Jordan The Comeback - Prefab Sprout", one of my all-time fav productions with obscure Elvis references... Also, Paddy is only the best male singer (for this genre) I've ever heard

I love Kate Bush. I might have the chance to play with Jerry Marotta and Tony Levin in a few months and we might play the song "No Self Control" by Peter Gabriel (if anyone knows it, a bit obscure). Anyway, I was listening to it today and Kate sings on it in the background. Really cool and eerie.

I bought the new album the day it came out. I was a little disappointed at first, however like most of the albums (oops, showing my age) I really enjoy, my appreciation has grown each time I've listened to it.

Now, I think it is a really good piece of work.

I could be wrong but I credit Gabriel for 'opening up' Ms Bush (artistically you dirty-minded bastards) so that she would go on to create the masterpiece 'the dreaming'

PG's 'melting head' album is on my all time top 20 for sure. One great song after another. I really don't like his later ones nearly as much. They all seem so tame by comparison.

Squids, you are jamming with Tony Levin and Jerry Marotta?

Ok, after a few day's listening to Aerial, it is, as I hoped, a grower

Certainly not her best (H.O.L for me) but there's more depth than a first listen showed.

The one exception is 'Mrs Bartolozzi' > 'A Sea Of Honey' This track is awful, by far the worst thing I've heard Kate do. She might have got away with it with a band/whatever, backing her, but to have such a dodgy melody and bizarre lyrics set to just her voice and piano. It sounds like a unfinished demo imo.

A dreadful track............

Yes you are wrong. Bush was heading towards The Dreaming from 14 years old.

Pardon me for reviving this ancient thread, but I just picked this up yesterday, and have listened to it about five times (four times on a shitty car stereo and once at home), and finally have an opinion:

I used to fall in love with Kate all over again every release, but this time my jaw didn't drop until those ABSOLUTELY SICK backing vocal harmonies on Nocturn. When they sing "Horizon"? Worth the whole CD just that. Magic. What the hell are they doing? I mean it's denser than frippertroniced enya and still crystal clear, and with attitude and not sedative like enya. Wow!

Other than that, there's a few nice ones, a few lovely ones, about one boring one and, yes, a couple of bizarre ones.
And I love the 2 CD set. It is the closest I get to turning the LP. I miss the feeling of having two sides, and on Hounds of Love the Jekyll/Hyde thing was one of the things I liked best. Pick up on this people. Two short CDs is better than one crammed. By far!

But WASHING MACHINE!?

I'm still getting to know the album. I agree with much of what has been said. However I love the fact that the music industry can still market and sell "artists" as opposed to "recording artists". There has been an awful lack of artistry in the popular music industry for a long time, but Kate is the real deal.

And I just love what she can do with her voice. Last two tracks on Aerial are my fave so far.
