I guess, like I say I don't do tab....I guess because in the 80's half the guitarists validated their playing by saying things like "dude you're not playing it right, the tab says...". There's nothing wrong with it, but I knew too many who thought it was the friggan holy grail or something...

Ok, that seams to make sens, so CO = StaccatoWhere you see CO, play staccato (the note should be very short in duration, not tied at all to the next note, it's the opposite of legato. Listen to the recording to see how Carlos plays these notes. The dots above the notes that correspond to the CO are for staccato, anyway). I guess CO stands for 'cut off'? Sorry, I'm not a native English speaker.
Again, interristing explanation. That just might be it.LH HO stands for a hammer on with the left hand, without having picked any other note on the same string before, as opposed to the case where you'd see just H (like the first bar). Think of it as tapping with your left hand.

Do you use musical staff if you don't do tabs? or you just play by ear?

both, but I can't sight read music...more 80% by ear (and musical knowledge) 20% from the sheet music.
