soundpalace, difference is subtle for the most part, but for those with enough hearing experience the difference should be huge.

It's really inspiring to know this version works better ot at least not any worse. ;)

i have a POCO a UAD-1 & dsp fx on my EM-U 1820m

none of the plugins i have demoed for thease cards has this power!!

& if my system is being honest with its readings, then i see with the GUI closed & all the settings activley prossing on a over crunched instence are using 2%cpu on my amd sempron 2400 (1.6gig)


this is the best compressor plugin i have ever used!!!

(dose that get me a free one? :hihi: )

Depends on what you have got right now. I can easily hear the difference of Marquis 1.0.6 versus 1.0.7 on these laptop speakers but it's because I'm used to hear subtle differences already. My mind is trained to it.

I'd say in the end it 80% experience and 20% equipment but good speakers do make it easier to learn.

version 1.0.7 sounds fabulous, however, I did prefere 1.0.6 at certain settings. Especially when using it as a raw effect, compressing the begeesus out of something, 1.0.6 sounds a bit better. Somehow 1.0.7 becomes too smooth and has absolutely no "stuttering" or hickups at all! :)

.. which of course is a good thing 99,9% of the time. The preset "Brutal Drums" shows what I mean. Sometimes that total breakup and stuttering compression is a nice effect but if I got to choose between 1.0.7 or the old version and select 1.0.7 in a heart beat! It's really quite a huge improvement and sounds more musical and smooth on everything I've tried.

Awesome work! Now please add the oversampling option as well for the ultimate mastering compressor. ;)

I've been away for a few weeks, and I missed the betas from 1.0.4 to 1.0.6
Could you please tell me where I can find the 1.0.6 that bmanic seems to like on some settings? Thank!

Bmanic just means he liked the older version on some of the more brutal settings. You can easily create brutal drums yourself with abuse of the controls (with the new version as well). Basically the older low resolution version "muffles up things" and is more "unstable" due to lower accuracy.



I prefer the new version on everything.

In fact just running old mixes thru it makes everything sound so much better.

Yes it is (the ultimate). One of my UAD-1 cards is on Ebay right now because of it.
(I'd sell the other one, too...but need to try the Space Echo first :hihi: )

Ok,

aleksey I found a bug.

It seems you're doing oversampling or impulse processing (or lookahead? which would explain the sharper attack) because there's a latency in the plugin now. And it doesn't get compensated. :(


I found it by accident when I summed a marquis processed audio back to the original.

A similar thing seems to happen if high quality mode is used in crunchessor. :(
