This is about the stupidest test you could ever do. Instead, he should have had the samples route directly to the output in Reason, and used them as samples and not audio tracks in Cubase, and NOT processed them with sound forge.

You wanted to know what we thought of the test, huh....
Ok, brace youselfes [Hatemode on]
What a completley f**king wanker idiot!!!!
I can't believe what i am reading!!!!!
First off all from a scientific point of view the test is flawed in so many ways it's not even funny.
Second, does he think for a minute that the programmers at Steinberg and Propellerheads don't have a clue???
This bloody summing nonsence has to stop NOW GODAMMIT!!!
He should be f---ing trainspotter or go and have a good wank or something instead of doing such piss!!!
OMG i'm so angry i can't even argument anymore
AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH
[hatemode off]
Hmm, quite amusing reading. There might be something there.Maybe i should do some testing on my own.

Hmmm...
1) Waste of time doing the test
2) Waste of time listening to the test
3) Waste of time arguing about the test
Just kidding guys
Interesting, but pretty useless

Seems pointless to me too.
As for summing - what summing is going on when you only play one sample on its own?
I suppose it's not any sillier than some of the X vs Y topics that get thrown up around here though. A caterpillar vs a gorrilla...which one is most like a bacon butty?

LOL, I used to feel a lot like you. All I've ever got from it are two pretty personal (in the end) beefs, one on the Grid and one on a local usenet group (the latter, as you might have noticed, spilled over to KvR and turned into a nasty display of nationalism) with self-righteous audio subjectivists, and some more DSP knowledge I sometimes looked up to back my arguments.jupiter8 wrote:This bloody summing nonsence has to stop NOW GODAMMIT!!!
Anyway, just read up on the subjectivist/objectivist debate. It's been going on for years in audiophile circles. I did just recently. It's very liberating to discover there are people that had digested a lot more of their own liver over this subject than you have, and it's still futile.
Obviously a computer still can’t throw a television out of a hotel window or get drunk and be sick on the carpet, so there is little danger of them replacing drummers for some while yet. -- Nick Mason

What's the deal with the underscores? And what you said is totally false, even if it made sense.
EDIT: I see you explained the underscores, although if the underscore is permanently on, wouldn't it look more like this?
