Rather than simply using it to compare alternate mixes, you could use it to switch between mixes for actual mixing - if you want completely different settings for the chorus, verse or any bits inbetween, you can flip between them and save them as part of the mix.
That is exactly what the ' snapshots' in Sonar do. This is indeed a very usefull feature, but not what I was asking for.

Haven' t looked if Sonar let me save mixer settings, currently cabeling my (new) studio :D

Some sort of version control by the sounds of it...SONAR doesn't as is (OK, Save As does, but that's true for anything!).

I'd say that this is going to be the next "big thing" in all the DAWs. Of course, everyone will have their own opinion of what hosts do it well, badly, differently, bizarrely...

Oh, I do hope so. It used to be one of the last big things that Cubase did once upon a time. Maybe that's a new marketing technique - take features out - give the userbase long enough to forget it ever did it, then bring it back in as a feature in a few years time to a big fanfare. SX5 will no doubt introduce a big new midi automation module to route any midi parameter to any modulation source and enable you to play whole tunes with one press of any key a-la Wavestation/XPhraze...
"Brand new IPS...Revolutionary midi mangling...blah blah blah..."
or a "Revolutionary new routing system that allows you to route anything to anything including feedback loops for FX...".

Maybe I'm just getting too cynical in my old age... :(
