I have to admit that I love phasers. I bought Audiodamage's Phase two the same day it was available  Also, I have several hardware ones: Boss PH series (1,2,3) MXR Phase 90, and others, but for me the best hardware phaser of all time is :hail: EHX Small Stone. I have 3 of them including the russian version. The best emulation of it I found to date is the KleinStein Phaser module included in Reaktor 5.1  I would say that it is 80% accurate in the sound of the hardware one.

I've always been a sucker for phase effects, from '60's physadelic tape flanging onwards. Antti's Phase 90 is a rather good VST. The Ultrafunk/Sonitus modulator does very nice phase stuff with lots of control, except unfortunaly host tempo sync. Kjaerhus stuff does tempo sync, but lacks a little in phasey-ness - it's more of a flanger.

Considering that true tape flanger is probably the ultimate, you could probably come close by cloning the section of audio you want to phase, process it for tape sound, then apply a pitch shift curve(with time stretch and formants turned off) and layer that with the original.
