the bass line works better for me now, and i think the mood is preserved (though the addition of more pitches adds a layer of sophistication/complexity that might work a bit against the monolithic nature of the song?).

i'm not trying to be annoying (promise!) ... it's just that ideas keep flying around me head ... how would it sound if, on occasion, you dropped the first note of the bassline (downbeat) and picked up on either the and of 1 or on 2? i think the constant downbeat metronome feel might benefit from variation.

i agree that the bassline is better now. it did need that bit of variation for personality.

i just tried out your idea of dropping the first note and changing up the rhythm a bit but it didnt do it for me. i think for that to really work, i'd have to take the concept further and change up the whole structure of that part and either make it slip and groove more, stumble more, or make it more sparse. but none of those directions are where i would like to take that part.

i've intentionally kept the bassline basic, repetitive, and metronomic. i want it to be the one steady and determined step among the plodding and stumbling beat behind it, the slow breathing drones, and the floating parts overtop. perhaps it makes the track less "sophisticated" for "afficionados" but it is not done without artistic intent and thought.

think of the rest of the track as a dreary and draining environment, and the bassline as the sure and steady pace you must keep up in order to make it through. nothing theatrical, bold or adventurous...just a focus to keep moving.

groovey. :-)

why wonder where heaven might be if there's delicious slices of these available.

Very appealing tunage that desires for only more. The repetitiveness of this only hightens its attraction. I may have missed a lot lately, but I'm glad to have caught this.

Very nice futuristic mood-piece, quite hypnotic. Great sounds, deftly arranged. Only thing I'd maybe rework is the stereo field - lots of stuff at dead centre that could be spread out to give a greater sense of space.

thanks guys! :)

good point. i so caught up in the other aspects that totally forgot to mess with the stereo field. i've just uploaded a new version that tweaks placement a bit and adds a bunch of autopanning. does this do the trick or do you think it need things spread out further?

great work Ugo - I'm really drawn in by the atmosphere in this track - very good depth in the mix - works great with headphones. I'll keep this in my music folder, thanks.
Would you allow me to present it as a LiveSlice mp3 demo on the livelab.dk site? In that case what artist name / link / description can I use?
