Squids wrote:No, I think that is considered an upgrade. This could be leftover verbage from the universal crossgrade that was going on (and still IS for CSR at least). But, we'll look into that and fix it if this is the case.

To answer your question though, all you have to own is AmpliTube Live or LE or AmpliTube 1 full and you qualify for the discounted UPGRADE to AmpliTube 2.
Yeah, the bottom line is the special all grades promotion is over so you can't crossgrade from another product to anything but CSR anymore.

Squids...the verbage on IK's site says the same thing...LE/SE is an upgrade, Live has always been listed as a crossgrade. Italians, go figure ;-)

I suspect Robert just used the verbage from their site.
Play what you feel and feel what you play.

Thanks for the clarification.

So I got some extra unexpected extra $$ and, before my wife decided what to do with them :D , I ordered Amplitube from esoundz.... I can't wait!!!! :hyper:

I posted this in the dreaded AT2 thread in the effects section. But, since it has some potential helpful advice I am posting it here as well:

Been playing around with my AT2 and my 60's Dano and my Tele bass. You know, the bass amp in AT2 is pretty darn good! That combined with the octave pedal is a lot of fun.

When it comes to amps there are an infinite amount of possible characterstics. That's why even from one hardware amp to another of the same model there are differences. Sometimes even the same amp one day vs another (or depending on how old the tubes are even). So, in my opinion if you have a great hardware amp that you love there is NO REASON to get rid of it just because of cool amp sims. It's just a different animal.

What I like about AT2 from the perspective of engineering (rather than as a pro guitarist which I am not) is that you have so many great elements to choose as options to dial in the sound you want. I mean, typically you have on your console and outboard gear some EQ, Compression etc. But, with this you have speaker/cabinet modeling, individual pre-amp, amp tone and power amp modeling on top of a cool self-contain multieffects routing system with some nice models of vintage fx inside (my favorites being models of: CE1 chorus, an optical tremolo!!!, fuzzface-Jimmy!, Dynacomp, Phase100-mine ;) , Tubescreamer-SRV! and the Octaver). The more I get to work with it in the context of making music the more I feel like it is an indispensable producer/engineer and songwriter's tool for your virtual studio set up.

So, I would venture to say that if you are a producer, engineer or songwriter then this is a must-have and that should even be evident to you by the audio demos and the spec list. I mean, LOOK WHAT YOU CAN DO!!!! It is very powerful! One word of warning though. The presets are awesome. But, if you want to make your own you do have to know what you're doing a bit with gain stages. There are a lot of them! It IS possible to sound like total crap if you are making your own presets from scratch and your gain settings are not right. Luckily there are some helpful tips on how to do it. Most people who don't know how to do that can rely mostly on the presets and tweak from there (which I think a lot of people do even on keyboards).

Now for a guitar player who is NOT an engineer/producer or multi-instrumentalist songwriter I think it is a different story. I don't have that perspective personally but I can see that there are quite a few people who have shown up in this thread that seem to be. If you are looking at this as "Is this going to be the holy grail sound I am looking for?" then let me tell you there is only ONE way to find out for sure and that is to try it yourself with your OWN guitar. It depends on how picky you are of course. Although, I think those that are looking for a particular thing already know that.

The reason I am mentioning this is because I try to give my genuine perspective on this stuff. Sure, we DO sell it and I am going to to talk about the seductive side of it (you expect that from me if you know me anyway). But, one thing I don't like is when someone buys something on my recommendation and is dissapointed because it didn't do what they wanted it to and felt they "bought into the hype". One of the reasons I spend my time here on KVR is to help people make GOOD buying decisions, not just the decision to buy.

So, having spent a while with the release version of AT2 VST in Windows within my Cubase SX3 I can say that if you are a producer/engineer and/or songwriter and doing any style of music that uses amps and vintage fx then this is absolutely not to miss in my opinion. I stand behind that 100%. It just does too many unique things for the money not to have in your set up. But, if you are primarily a guitar player and maybe not much of the other three then IF you are particular about your guitar sound then please DON'T buy it on my recommendation because I have no idea if it will please you or not. Only YOU know that. You wouldn't buy a hardware amp or a guitar first without trying it would you? So, this is probably the same. The only safe thing I can say about that is that with 20,000 amp combinations and models of 82 different pieces of gear in there you are bound to find SOMETHING you like! ;) One would think. But, you never know.

Anyway, it is coming in March some time and we're going to be taking pre-orders on www.esoundz.com THIS WEEK!

Thanks for listening. I may still do some demos but I will probably just do them and post them on esoundz. Just more to listen to at least.

I see finally , that Amplitube 2 is being heralded as in the "pre order" stage on the IK website. Whether that constitutes a
" release", I don't know. Curiously, there is no mention of the promised "free" upgrade to people who bought Amplitube 1 after October of last year.I don't know how this oversight came about, but
to people who this might concern, perhaps you should Email IK reminding them of their obligation. :troll:

i don't think they're going to forget. they had a press release in january talking about the free upgrade
