Stick with the high quality free stuff and the humanly priced and better quality Voxengo, Kjaerhus, WWaym, Elevayta etc. plugins. This is my conclusion to the now un-installed new Nomad Factory plugins.

Cheers!

100% agree with your diagnosis there, bmanic. Like I said, I'm not sure how these guys stay in business; they must have a larger RTAS market that doesn't know about the cool free-to-affordable stuff.

Well, being the gear slut that I am ( :P ), I qualified for a "crossgrade" price on Esoundz.com (plus I already have "platinum gear slut" status there!), so the price ended up more than reasonable :). I can't wait to try the CSR myself... there's already a "stripped down" version of it inside the Miroslav Philharmonic, and that does sound great on orchestral stuff. But there are still many times when I get just the sound I want out of the freeware Ambience, and I also can't recommend highly enough Anwida's freeware DX Reverb Lite.. one sometimes gets a lot more than one pays for! :)
I did get a life,once...but it was faulty, so I sent it back.

Would just like to say that I've been trying the Rock Legends Guitar Amp VST and have been finding it really playable. The gain on that thing seems to work really well with the Dimarzio humbuckers on my JS1000.

Anyhow, prices are prohibitive so I don't think that is to become my VST amp of choice. Holding out for AT2.

Think of it as an early warning system.

Then run like hell the other way.

Just tested Blueverb - forget about it. There's much better free stuff awailible these days.

The 'verb was not especially impressive, but I am surprised to find that there was quite a bit I liked about the other plugins. I did a quick A-B of an acoutic guitar track that I'll post if anyone is interested. I was quite pleased at what they did with the sound.

I agree: I ran an acoustic guitar track through the EQ and was impressed with it; it seems to be well-suited to it. The reverb was not very impressive, considering the competition.

^^that's the problem with audio with better and worse. maybe you have 2 plug-ins, and one is technically superior, with much more going on in its algos, with 64-bit and oversampling and a cleaner or smoother sound with less distortion, but maybe that's not what u want on the source.

like the waves l3, with complex algos and multiband-design and blabla...but with some styles of music just simple clipping works better and preserves a better punch(at the cost of distortion).

so even simple 'crap-algos' can find their use.
