got SE, I prefer Synthmaker to Reaktor, PD looks cool, I should investigate.

I only really played with Bidule seriously over the last weekend (I like it!), I assumed you could do something like this so maybe Bidule within Tracktion for me? Cheers.

As before, Tracktion automating SE? Maybe a better midi host like eXT... Plus the advantage of being able to export as vst any setups that were particularly useful.

DWb : I think you're right, sounds like a good approach. Never tried the Karma stuff so I'll give it whirl.

Shamann : That combination does my head in. :) So, you'd have eXT in there for sequencing duties?

And I'll try Phrazor too.

thanks all, all these opinions and thoughts are dead helpful trying to decide where to concentrate my efforts.

I actually don't do much MIDI sequencing these days, so this setup is a bit easier for me.

How the setup works:

- Primary host and compositional tool is Audiomulch. Most sequencing I do is done with Mulch's automation lanes.

- EnergyXT runs inside Mulch as a MIDI note sequencer. Since I do less MIDI sequencing these days, I actually don't use it very much other than for betatesting plugins.

- Bidule also runs inside Mulch, and is used as a modular multi-effect.

It would depend on your preferred working method, if most of what I did required MIDI sequencing, I wouldn't want to have the extra baggage of Audiomulch. But the setup does offer a lot of functionality, and since all three interfaces are fairly similar, it ultimately isn't too convoluted in practical use.

I was also going to suggest trying Bidule hosted within Audiomulch. I've only just bought an Audiomulch license (have had Bidule for a while now), so I haven't explored this combination much yet. But, from the description you gave, Bidule gives you the low-level controls (maths and logic components, and much more), while still providing a good interface for using Audiomulch's famed automation features.

Both at least have good demos so you can try the combination before deciding.

It looks like Phrazor is here...
