YAMAHA algorithms build in in CUBASE SX 4?

Totally! I'm already getting Deja Vu!!
I may have beat you to it, but well said as always, Kritikon. Seriously, they can take as long as they need; just make it the host we know it can be. I'm still thrilled making music on SX 2, and it took me a year to switch over. I can wait for the perfect host.

Like I said: take your time. This push for "constant growth" really kills core stability, IMHO. Besides, I don't think SX 3 is awful or anything, is it?Improv wrote:No and don't hold your breath for anytime soon.BERFAB wrote:Did I miss a memo? Is SX4 in the pipe? - Per-channel dynamics (compressor/expander/limiter/gate)
There is already. There's a whole combined dynamics section can be inserted to each and every channel (not that I personally use it though) - which is exactly why they implement it that way (i.e. you have to insert it). If you don't want to use it, you're not stuck with it - I have no problem with that.

VST5 had per-channel dynamics? I remember per-channel EQ...but I hardly used VST5/32/old one.M4M wrote:it_was_like_that_in_VST5Quote:

Actually, I was asking because I DON'T want an upgrade right now. I really like Cubase just the way it is. In fact, I'm still at v. 3.0.2 because I know that upgrading to 3.1.1 will probably keep me busy for a week doing stuff that doesn't have anything to do with making music.bduffy wrote:Like I said: take your time. BTW, whoever was talking about the Cubase Chorus that's included with SX--I couldn't agree more. I always thought that was a really rich effect--better than almost all the others I've got in my arsenal. They really did that one right.

Agreed. I'll open an old comp or something my brother sent me, and I'll be like, "Man! Those guitars sound BOSS!" and I'll peep over to the insert and...Chorus! Plain old, Cubase Chorus! I'll be damned. Kritikon and I have bonded over the Multiband Compressor, which has a great sound, Magneto is too-good-for-free and Quadrafuzz is a gift from god. Also: if you have Wavelad, Puncher is one of the best little compressors around; I know a mastering engineer who actually uses it on mixes, says it's almost identical in sound to a certain dbx compressor.BERFAB wrote:Actually, I was asking because I DON'T want an upgrade right now. We tend to forget that Steinberg was throwing this (then) cutting edge tools out years ago, and I'm still discovering uses for them, what? 6-7 years later. There's a lot to be said for these classics, and I'm going to collect some of them, in case they ever are killed. Like Q-Metric; possibly the first ray-traced VST effect, but one of the best-sounding software EQ's I've heard. And now it's killed! Hey - they should throw the optimized Q-Metric code into the VST Channel...hmmmmm....

I'd like to see more extensive freeze functions (drag, cut , repeat), it must be me but I still find quantizing audio to be a little less than intuitive. Overall , the software has come a long way since version 4.0 vst.

MIDI plugs are one of a kind, SX EQ as long as it remains substrative i dont see any valid reson not to use it... well filtering in SX is quite extreme, one can go from subtle bass
groove enhancemments with Tonic or stepfilter or twist and turn a sound beyond recognition as well.
I don't like much the GUI on some plugs, they are too tiny to tweak but they sound okay.
However i'm a sucker for freebies, i probably use more simulanalog and fish fillets stuff over anything else, even UAD or Waves... but YAMAHA plugs thanks but no thanks not even for free, i'd rather have a easier way to route side-chaining,saving channel strip states as batch offline processing and batch rendering implemmented on the next edition.
I don't realize how floating inserts could contribute for my workflow but i have nothing against them as long as PDC doesn't get compromised or the overall responsiveness of the program will not be downgraded,
Logic has nodes SX has VSL

Yeah, I forgot to mention that I think some of their other plugs are top notch too: I really like Monologue, Tonic and that Pad synth (forget the name) that came out last year. Decent GUI's too.

there was a post from christian at cubase.net - before the end of the year for sx 4 - not much more info than that
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.
