All my drums sounded like glitchy digital ringmod with lots of artifacts.

i shudder to think of the dreadful sounds this thing could make if I knew what I was doing! :P Here's an example of mild abuse and cluelessness with this excellent plug!

I really like spectral stuff. I'd like to see how this one will end up.

Have you tried DtBlkFx yet??? 8)

Post

AMAZING, the best thing about this is that its spectral but HAs NO LATENCY. I can use it on stuff like my turntables and not hae the annoying latency introduced by other spectral processing, such as DtBlkFx, or spectral delay!! KEEP AT IT! It does crash my host when I mess with the minHZ/maxHZ knobs, particularly when i put the max high then the min. this thing really is awesome. I assign all the parameters to knobs so I can tweak it live, but it does crash my host (live and EXT) quite often when im tweaking them without looking at what i'm moving. I look forward to future releases, I can't praise this enough.

From the devs site "A few days after its first public release, Lost Technology has already gained some true believers, while leaving others decidedly underwhelmed. In this newspost I respond to reactions received via email and by lurking on the KVR Audio forums. I have also posted a release plan outlining the future of Lost Technology.

Thank you, everyone who has commented on Lost Technology. It's delightful to find out that people like my plug-in and think it is useful, or at least interesting. The less positive comments have also been nice, some of them have pointed out things that could be improved, others have made me giggle by exposing certain flaws that I did my best to cover up.

Several forum posters mentioned that the plug-in is hard to understand and/or get useful results from. One suggested that "some presets" demonstrating the potential applications would be good. I understand this criticism and have made increased user friendliness one of my top priorities for the next release.

The reference manual will be revised, descriptions of algorithms and parameters will be clarified and expanded.

Version 0.2 of the plug-in will come with built-in presets, demonstrating how it can be configured to produce different types of sound.

I want your presets. If you create a preset that you think should be included in the built-in set, then I'd appreciate it very much if you sent it to me. Please send presets in Cubase (.fxp) format if you can. Preset donors will be credited if they so desire. By submitting a preset to me you implicitly agree to its free publication as part of a software product released under the MIT license."

i'll be keeping my eyes on this one :tu:

Love it, but this thing is weird...don't think my glasses are thick enough to grok it's statistical density yet...ya ever see '2001: a Space Odyssey"? I feel like the cavemen encountering the Monolith when dealing with this thing
...also- while presets may be inevitable, I've found in my doodlings, that the settings are quite contingent on the input signal. ie- the harmonic content differs a lot from one synth bass preset to the next. While the two may be different, they're still recognizable by themselves as synth bass. Throw both synth bass sounds thru the same LostTech preset, chances are you'll get drastically different results...that's been my observation. I'm not sayin' presets shouldn't be built; I am sayin' that I've found that it's sort of like trying to use presets on a kaleidescope...but maybe that's because I'm a caveman and LostTechnology is the monolith

That was my take on it too. I have been trying it on drums/percussion and it seems to become more of an instrument than an effect so to speak. Even simply removing the bassdrum from the equation turns whatever setting you have on its head (generally in a good way though...it would be an amazing live tool for anyone with the backbone to actually try and control it in a pretty chaotic environment  )

I'd probably have better luck herding cats
Seriously though- I would like to have time to get a better understanding of what does what and why...but time? I ain't got it these days! I'll have to keep using "the Force" :hihi:

plug appreciable not only for blinkered fsu but as a work of art. good named.
you come and go, you come and go. amitabha neither a follower nor a leader be tagore "where roads are made i lose my way" where there is certainty, consideration is absent.

Johan you already know how I feel about this masterpiece. Make a man fumble and humble, yo.

Johan - thank you for creating a VST effect that doesn't dumb it down. I predict I will be using LT for years to come, honestly.

Could you shed some light on what you plan to incorporate in future releases (besides the aforementioned presets)? v0.1.1 suggests that you feel Lost Technology is still very early in development.
