Is that Natasha Henstridge?

LOL what a sentence. Poor guy. You Get What You Give still gets solid playback on pop radio up here so I'm sure they still get nice backend royalties off that one-hit wonder. It was a pretty good song as far as pop music goes IMO.
Yeah, Natasha Henstridge. He also has this story about Janet but we still don't believe him on that one. Like I said, we didn't believe him about Natasha until my friend saw it right in front of him. He IS a good lookin' R. Kelleyish dude and smooth too. You'd thing from hanging out with him that some of that mojo would rub off on you but... alas it doesn't work! Fun to see though for a little while until you get tired of seeing what amounts to a MAGIC show!

and as for Greg (or Greggg), I think he blinks a lot even in his video. I mean, he doesn't blink as much as that Bucky dude from exAmerican Idol. But, he blinks enough to say he blinks a bit. :hihi: I agree that was a good catchy song though. Maybe there were some legal entanglements with that record or band and that could be why there is no second record. OR maybe he's just a little weird. I think he disses Marylin Mansion in that tune right? Go to your mansions or something?

Is this correct? Are there actual follow up disks in the works, too?

How about it Squids? Can we get a definitive list of the pending stuff, or was my earlier post reasonably accurate?

Sorry to be a pain, but inquiring minds want to know. :D

Thanks

Your lists are pretty accurate. We ARE working on a free update to the Studio ProFiles SE which fixes some issues (especially Apple Loops which ManyTone discovered were slightly off pitch... and we discovered why too, it had something to do with the sample rate but we're fixing it). It will also have the missing rock stereo rexes, some Danny Gottlieb multitracks and some extra stereo fills and alts on some of the styles. There's a small possibility we may even have a BFD kit for it but that could go 50/50 depending also on how long we want to wait to release the update. I was hoping it would be some time next month.

I try to give updates when I can in the forum though. There's a bunch of things happening at once.

Yeah, OmniSoundz 2 reached a certain stage where I need to go through it and pick out what I like and don't like. I want to step it up from O1 in certain areas so it is a great general set to turn to. Some of the sounds were better than others in the first O1. Some were weak like the Brass and some Winds so... it's going in stages.

Tron 2 is an eclectic beast that is a labor of love on the side. However, I am working on some really cool things on the weekends and have a few outside helpers as well on that!

It was a catchy song, that's for sure. For me, however, it was like the 3rd or 4th best cut on the album. There were some real gems in there. Shame there was no follow-up and I think maybe both of your reasons could be the cause. :)
Still, better one good one than a number of not so good ones. I remember how disappointed I was (and still am) at Matchbox 20's efforts after "Yourself Or Someone Like You", which IMO was a fantastic album of really great pop/rock songs.

Yeah, that was the line. Weird isn't it? Also, I can't see Greg(g) kicking anyone's ass in. Very strange, but I admire his guts!

As for Matchbox 20, I agree with you. Although I am not even THAT fond of the first one even though I recognize its commercial appeal. They actually started down in here in South Florida and I am good buds with their ex-guitarist Adam Gaynor. I have this GREAT story about how years ago I sold him my old pre-midi Yamaha analog keyboards (SK30 and a CP35) to get a DX7. Actually, the story is even better in light of my recent visit to Genesis' studio, The Farm because I was talking to Tony Banks about the DX7 and it seems we had the same sort of baffling experience with it which was "I know this is supposed to be the latest greatest thing but HOW DO I PROGRAM THIS??? and WHERE ARE THE PADS????". So, we were talking about ways to dress the DX up so it sounded good (like running it through effects). Anyway, the cool thing about my old analog Yamaha boards (which were my first keyboards besides the Radioshack Moog) is that years later I re-hooked up with Adam and asked him if he still had my old keyboards and he DID. But, what is even better is that he just gave them to me. So, I have my very first keyboard set up back. It's not very good really but nostalgic. What I REALLY wanted back then was a Prophet 5 and a CP70 but, uh, that would cost over $10,000 back then!!!!! Maybe now you know why: a. I bought all of those vintage keyboards when I finally saw them come down in price below $1,000 and b. why I wanted to sample ALL of them... because otherwise to have those sounds it would cost you over a hundred thousand dollars (even today with the price of vintage, rare and collectible gear).

Anyway, I went to high school with Adam. He was working at Criteria studios in Miami and then he ended up in MB20. Lucky! However, he didn't get to write much with them and he played me some of the tunes he wrote and they were as good or better than some of the tunes on their first album. But, again, nasty band politics and music industry crap that prevents these things... it really is a shame when that happens. Just like a follow up album to Greg's thing. You never know though. Some people have a very difficult time dealing with fame or the money, the pressure and everything else.

Very cool to get the old keyboards back. Like finding old friends. Though not exactly the same, I sold a vintage Les Paul and Fender Twin Reverb with JBLs when I was a little short of cash some 25 years ago. Often wished I hadn't

Just to finish off the Greg(ggggg) thing, here's some info from Wikipedia:

The New Radicals had a "revolving door policy" and no permanent members other than Alexander, who produced, wrote, sung and played various instruments for the band. The only other person considered a relatively constant member was former child actress Danielle Brisebois.[1] She acted as background singer and percussionist on the album, at live shows and in the band's music videos. She also co-wrote their second single "Someday We'll Know", with Alexander and Debra Holland. Brisebois had previously worked with Alexander on his 1992 album Intoxifornication and on her 1994 solo debut Arrive All Over You....

...His first production work after the New Radicals' breakup was the unreleased album Portable Life by fellow Radical Danielle Brisebois, originally set to be released in October 1999, but canceled by RCA Records (not to be confused with the New Radicals' record label MCA Records...

...Portable Life is the second album by Danielle Brisebois. Originally scheduled to be released on 26 October 1999, the album was canceled by RCA Records for unknown reasons and remains unreleased. A small number of promotional copies were released and these are now extremely scarce and valuable. "I've Had It" was scheduled to be the album's first single and was also released as a promo. Portable Life was produced and co-written by former New Radicals-front man Gregg Alexander, who previously worked with Danielle Brisebois on Arrive All Over You and on the New Radicals' Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too.

Probably more than you ever wanted to know... :D

Hmmmm. That's interesting. Odd that the "band" would break up though when it is really only him and the "revolving door" of people. Although it could be a record company thing. There's a lot of albums they just don't release. Kind of strange to think someone could work on a whole album and then they just don't release it! Like the Fiona Apple album. I actually know Jon Brion and Brian Kehew pretty well (and they used to be roomates also). Jon started the recorded and Brian along with Mike Alezondro (or however you spell it) finished it (remember the friend of mine who saw Robb with Natasha Henstridge? He also used to pay Mike $50. a track for bass sessions... that's before he wrote with Dr. Dre of course... you can imagine what kind of $$$ he must have upgraded when THAT happened!). Anyway, I haven't talked to Jon in a while to ask him what happened with the Fiona Apple record but I did talk to Brian a bit last NAMM. Seemed really odd. I like the album though. It'd been a shame if they didn't release it.

Unreleased albums... I've heard a bunch of unreleased albums. I heard an unreleased Yes album that was actually really, really good. It was with Jon Anderson but before Drama. It sounded almost Genesis-like. A little bit like his Animation album. I also have an unreleased Mister Mister album that sounds like King Crimson! Isn't that ironic? Pat Mastellato gave it to me. (ironic because he now plays drums for King Crimson...). Actually, it sounds like the band UK or at least Wetton-era Crimson. I should post a little clip but I have to transfer it from DAT. Apparently it wasn't pop enough for the label or something. Shame. I also have an unreleased Seal record. But, I think it was his choice (or Trevor Horn's maybe) not to release it. It isn't bad but I guess I can see why they didn't release it. Well, actually, I think Seal fans would have liked it so that too is sort of a shame.

You know, a lot of things end up on the cutting room floor. Sometimes it is better to just be an independent artist and release whatever you want. If you have a nice virtual studio you can do that. Go over to www.esoundz.com and pick up some stuff! Actually, kidding aside, it is totally true. To allow people to be independent and produce like you had a big record company budget was always one of my goals... both for myself and for customers.

Interesting Squids! I always love reading your stories. The formula you have definately works for me!!

Looking forward to all the stuff that's coming up. I definately love CSR, Amplitube 2 and the Loops!!!!

Spring brings so much extra work, that i haven't had as much time to be on the forum lately, but don't think we've forgotten about esoundz!!

You do seem to live the life, Squids. :tu:

My kid brother introduced me to the New Radicals' disc when it came out. What always amazed me is how catchy and fresh the tunes seemed--but if you broke it down, the actual performances were nothing special. Often, the singing is wildly off-key which you wouldn't expect from a commercial release. But somehow it works.

Now just last year, Hall and Oates released a cover of "Someday We'll Know," and, of course, the playing is slick, the production is polished, and the vocals and harmonies are right on target. But it sucks, IMHO (and I'm a Hall & Oates fan). No "IT" factor. :dog:

There's a lesson in there somewhere, though I'm not sure what it is...
