Also, I usually just layer 909 hihat samples with traditional acoustic Hihat samples. Eq, compression, and careful layering is the key.

It's amazing after all these years that the ol' trusty 909 still got it. Even now, I hear fresh, fresh shit coming out using 909 hihats and ride cymbal.

Maybe they simply ARE perfect and it's simple as that

Like You always want guitars and 4-strings to make Rock'n'Roll, be it Frank Zappa or Bloc Party.
The 909 hats and rides have some sonic qualities unsurpassed to this day in my opinion..
I'd like to see the drumkit they were sampled of back in the day hehe
