On the second point it doesn't matter too me because I'm not looking at the monitor when I play my keyboards,
ACtually, what i meant was even after the recording is done, i don't see the notes. I don't think anyone looks at their screen while they are playing...or do they :?
oh okay...I don't have that problem at all...I guess because I never enable the record to step...

If you have the paintbrush tool, you can use ctrl+drag to make a box, shift+drag to slice, and a few other goodies. I never change tools in the Piano Roll :)

are you telling me to read the manual?

I did for my first 2 original posts and couldn't figure either one out which is why i made the help topic. As for the Piano Roll info, i simply stated my opinion on it needing workflow improvements and explained a bit after being asked. I didn't ask "How do i do this" or "How do i do that". Some awesome FL users here were nice enough to give me some tips.
So again, thanks to those who help out here :) It makes KVR worth the recommendation to other fellow artists.

If you had read the manual you would have known about those keyboard modifier shortcuts. I'm not busting your balls about it, just saying that you really SHOULD read it and digest it because it will make your life so much easier and your music development process much less painful :)

There are so many things about FL that are tucked away hidden under a little arrow or option that it's almost impossible to remember them all. The manual is well written thank goodness.

In a perfect world, every host would have FL's piano roll. :hihi:

But seriously, being able to draw, select, slice, stretch, duplicate and lengthen notes... without having to click on a single icon or toggle repeatedly between Draw, Select and Erase options is absolute genius.

SO if i play a pattern with a synth line and switch to another pattern with only sampled beats, there will be stuck notes from the previous pattern.
Anyone know how to remedy this?
If I understand you right, when playing a synth pattern ( created in the step sequencer) through the playlist, the last note continues to play after the pattern has finished.
This is normal behaviour for step sequencer patterns and while it may appear odd it does have its uses. You can for instance have a drone or pad sound that you could instance at the begining of a piece by inserting one pattern and it will continue to play to the end should you want. It will however be switched off the next time the same instrument is used.
To avoid hung notes either send the pattern to the piano roll(right click on its channel in step sequencer) or insert a pattern for same instrument that is hanging, using any note but with zero volume.

send the pattern to the piano roll
Yeah, looks as if i'm just going to ditch the step sequencer. I liked the fact that i could use it as a drum module. Very convenient. Oh well. I'll just use the FL drum sampler..whatever it's called.

This is EXACTLY what EnergyXT does. IF FL can do this as well than that's a plus cause clicking on icons destroys the workflow IMO. I'll just start messing around some more until i get the workflow down.

:hihi: That's pretty cool. I like how with step editing mode it behaves like a tracker.

S.HUSH, i'm not being condescending saying this, and this will be the last time I will mention the manual but... The section for piano roll lists everything you need to get those shortcuts down pat. Have fun :)

Ok, cool! Thanks Grymmjack :)
