Blockfish is good if you want character and pump.
If you want transparent level control try TBT Tow compressor or the g stuff.

Yeah, that's what I meant by "g stuff". I couldn't remember the proper name.

blockfish - quick character.
Vanilla compressor - all roundr with a nice sound, rivals commercial offerings (imo).

What' ' s about Stardust from Arguru software ?

I know it ins't exactly (just) a compressor but i' d like to have some input on this one too...

I like Buzzoom's stuff. I have Wave's Axxe and Renaissance compressors as well as a few other {non free} though... They all work together fairly well. I've never quite gotten what I wanted from Blockfish... I'd suggest trying several.
