Right-click on the .exe file and choose properties -> compatibility -> compatibility mode.

Tried running SMDIXferGUI in WIN98 mode and it still won't load the .dll.

Hmm. Have you tried Yamaha's Tiny Wave Editor?

Hmm.. TWE's not working here: it won't let me set a "working directory" for some reason, and won't load samples without it.
Might be worth a try your end though (it doesn't even need installing!)
Maybe a demo version of Soundforge is in order! Or something else perhaps.. does recycle do SCSI sample transfer?

Just tried Tiny Wave Editor (thanks for the tip) but although it works I still am not having any luck. It doesn't see the A3000.
I clear the finding drivers bit but it makes no difference.
I am using a Belkin SCSI/USB adapter which works fine with my zip drive on its own, but even that is not recognised when I attach the A3000. Maybe the adapter is conflicting with the A3000.
If I knew for sure that the A3000 would read wavs from a CD ROM, I would invest in a lead (I have a SCSI CD), but I am reluctant to at the moment because I have read conflicting things about this.

Just been reading the manual again for any clues without luck, but it did cross my mind to try different ID's.
I also want to open it up again and see if termination is on or off for the A3000.
I probably won't try for a couple of hours, I have some studying I should be doing now.
I appreciate your help IIRs.
Regards,

Still no luck in getting the A3000 to talk to my PC. I think I might have to give up on that.
Now if only I could be sure that the A3000 can read wavs from a CD....

No worries, thanks for your help IIRs.
Do you know if samples can be transferred over MIDI to the A3000?

SUCCESS
I have managed to get it working successfully now with SMDIXferGUI. I am a happy chappy. I just don't have time to actually get down to music at the moment though.
What I was missing was having the ASPI drivers installed.
Thanks for all the advice.
