If it turns out to be true then I'll be overjoyed, but I'll also be incredibly surprised.
huge?

I didnt think overall it was that impressive.
thought it was funny how it said "bugfixes" in a major upgrade.. hehe

It's a really impressive fake, if that's what it is. Whoever wrote it must've had quite a bit of marketing and business writing experience, or if they haven't they could definitely get a job doing that kind of thing because they're quite talented. It looks at least as authentic as the Bahn Sage, if not moreso.

Or it's real, which would be even more cool. But either way it's neat.

Looks like Donnie Darko Brasco guessed right:

I think too much impressive..
-> must be fake info!
:hink: er, :shrug:
That means nothing at all - do you think a moderator on Steinberg's board would have the authority to make any sort of meaningful confirmation or denial in the first place? That aside, would you expect Steinberg to acknowledge a leaked document? It's much more advantageous for them to deny it even if it is real - it certainly won't stop the rumor mill but it keeps their hands clean, the best of both worlds.

I'm not saying it's real, but I'm a bit more optimistic just out of intuition. It's impressive, but it's definitely not *too* impressive, Yamaha is a huge company with deep pockets and I'm sure they would very much like to dominate the software recording market - if Steinberg were given the resources to successfully execute such an update, it would be a strong step in that direction. The updates all seem in step with Steinberg's design philosophy, the document has an air of authenticity, and none of the features presented are unrealistic on their own. Put together, it would be a fairly impressive acheivement - but this is one of the longest gaps between major Cubase releases Steinberg has ever had, and they could theoretically have more resources than they have ever had, at a time when their parent company is fairly ambitous - Yamaha is no Pinnacle.

I guess we'll just see, though. :)

They appear to be planned features, not the final products specs. Some may not make it into a launched product. One feature that indicates the document may be genuine is the mention of support for hardware being included in the VST 3.0 spec. Its only a matter of time until Yamaha tried to attack the idea of software only VSTs by reintroducing hardware. How long until DSP only plugins appeared? (Which would require purchasing Yamaha DSP cards to run naturally). Their version of Protools|HD, which tries to introduce Yamaha hardware to the software environment? That sounds exactly like Yamaha to me.

If it's not real its very elaborate lengths to go to for a hoax.

Not a Cubase user, then? Well, that audio/MIDI object thing would be a gigantic change, being able to save projects to a monolithic bundle would be a godsend and flexible routing plus analog desk modelling is MAJOR. Again, especially for Cubase users, who've had the linear-only insert stips since the beginning of time.

I would be enthralled with a decent MIDI learn function.
