My favourite limiter is almost any limiter as I limit 0.5-1.0db most of the time. No joke this time... K-14 to K-12 strictly and I make quite noisy industrial, go figure
. I like to see people reach for the volume control and turn it up, and then the chorus happens... :-O.

You know, that is a great limiter and it gets overlooked a lot. I think it has a very classic sound, kind of 1176-ish. Kicks ass on drums.shamann wrote:Sound Forge Wave Hammer. But never to any great degree, just not a fan of the sound of over-limited audio.skaer wrote:What's Your other Limiter ?
And that reminds me to recommend it to whomever was looking for a "VST/DX tube limiter" earlier...

George Yohng's W1 Limiter, wins with head and shoulders, because of it's price and perfect behaviour.

See, that's funny; I find it kind of soft-sounding. I'd take the Tls Pocket Limiter over it, maybe BuzMaxi3 also.Max el Belga wrote:George Yohng's W1 Limiter, wins with head and shoulders, because of it's price and perfect behaviour.

bduffy, indeed it is soft sounding (I like that) and I like the BuzzMaxi3 too.
The W1 is so simple though; I even only use 2 of the 3 faders !
Imagine our wife had only 2 buttons to "adjust her"... (for the female members of KvR : change some words in the joke and you can also laugh with it)

None of them
I allways use Blockfish
http://www.digitalfishphones.com/main.p ... &subItem=5
it's one of the god damn best limiters out there even many thinks it's only a compressor.
Try to use it with the compressor turned off and then just turn up the output !
It's amasing !!

Yeah - not only is it DX, I don't think you can get it unless you own Sound Forge. Bad move, it's a brilliant compressor.Jason Brian Merrill wrote:is wave hammer DX?bduffy wrote:You know, that is a great limiter and it gets overlooked a lot. I've never felt the need for a payware limiter with all the great freebies avaliable

Yeah, I agree that the free ones are really outstanding, but I think you'll find most mastering guys will say there's a difference between freeware limiters and payware. Don't get me wrong: I don't want that to be true, and we're talking about audiophile stuff here, but for example: a couple months ago I had a mastering contest here and offered up one of my tracks, and one of the guys tried, as an experiment, to do a master with just freeware, because he thought it should be possible given the wuality of freeware these days, and he was unimpressed with the results. There deifinitely was a difference.
Luckily devs like Kjaerhus and Voxengo offer master-grade limiters for next to nothing! And lord knows, the good free ones are great for day-to-day use.
Although I can't imagine slapping Blockfish on a mix...
