Hey guys when I get a serious all out crash from FL when I reboot I see some files sitting here...

C:\Documents and Settings\*&%@#\Local Settings\Temp\FL Studio

Also ever think of using a protected Recycle bin?? I hacked out Norton's protected recycle bin (b4 I uninstalled NAV04) and it's really help me in the backup of little temp shit my system tryes to dump when my system crashes.. I think Norton System Works has the same thing (bulky tho)..

Just a thought..

6 keeps crashing and freezing in my system...it makes the most dread noise on start up too...I know something is off. Since I had to rebuild, I lost 5...and once again NI sucks in 6, just when everything was working out in 5. It's getting to the point of boredom. That s my rant.

Another recommendation for saving a new version of a tune evry time you add a new plug or makea major change. I have around 40 file versions of a tune by the time a tune is nearing completion, also has the bonus that you can go back to an old version if it turns out better in teh end.

FL (4.5.2) is still the most stable host I've used though, Sonar bails constantly, and Cubase SX round at a mates' house has been pretty buggy though that might be a specific plugin we're using. FL just grinds away til the CPU melts, Sonar starts dropping out at 70% CPU, which is just a waste of 1/3rd of your CPU. I think Cubase is the way to go in general from these 3 hosts anyway.

I've never gotten along with FL6

Some new improvements to the piano roll kept me trying, but I found it unstable. Luckily I had FL5 backed up.
Someone here once mentioned that as a programmer they believed there is an apex for all software- a time when the features are mature, but a time before too many user requests or market considerations have bloated the code- I think FL5 may have been that moment. But, I admit, that might just be me/my system and my preferences.

It still does the eat yr flp at the worst possible moment and offer naught but smug oblique fruitiness as recompense thing, but less often.

Also, I don't need anything that 6 added, and the new plugins work fine in 5 by just copying the dll over. (disclaimer: gol himself has said that this may be buggy, but I personally have had no probs.)

I know that doesn't help you in the slightest. Just saying, is all..

My personal favorite was the second or third revision of FL5. The one right before the addition of the "flip score" in the piano roll. I wish I'd stuck there as I never had a single problem with that version.

Every time I've gone to IL with a problem they've looked at the diagnostic results and the error windows and they basically went "huh, that's odd" and then disappear out of the thread. All the synths are synth1 except for the ambient noise at the beginning and end of the clip coming from H. G. Fortune's Swamp.

Not to pick, but I've used all the above without issue in FL. Try removing Swamp and see if it still happens. It's the only plug in that list that I've never used with FL.

Also I have the 2nd most recent GVST plugs installed. I try to stay up to date with all my VSTs and look for updates about once a month for a few hours at a time.

The explanation for the screwed up projects though has to be something wrong. You have not a single instance of this project in any phase of production that will load successfully so that you can diagnose?

If that is the case that sucks bigtime. I usually do iterative production, and build up and up in different files. Since FLP's are just information and no sample data or anything it's easy to do it and the files are small and stay small.

I've never had a problem with TLs plugs in FL.

You say you keep your computer cleaner than a dolphins anus

Does this include a regular defragmentation schedule for your audio disk(s)?
