I agree with this one.. Cubase has a sweet sound especially on the parametric eq's per track..

nice image you have tagged there ;)

and the comment about cubase's sweet sound with its eqs is priceless. :P

I think the complaints about the lack of keyboard shorcuts are simply a personal preference. It almost sounds like you want to use your computer without using your mouse. What is wrong (#6) with selecting all step seq' channels with the mouse?...what's wrong with that?? Could it possibly be easier that double clicking???? (check with Putte for some "Puttorials" on the Subject) In respect to alot of your keyboard shortcut complaints, I think you should learn to adapt YOUR workflow to what's there sometimes, especially when the function is already provided. Just because it's not implemented the way YOU WANT it to be doesn't mean there's something "wrong" with it.

(#1) Once you copy notes to paste try using the shift button.

(#8) There are VST effect gates; plenty to choose from.

(#5) Changing all volume on the step sequencer at the same time?... that really comes down to experience and practice. I might have had the complaint as an ultranoob, but once you start learning just how loud each event can be in a mix, it negates the need for that completely. That's purely incompetent mixing on your part, right from the beginning. Look at pro's who say, "I start mixing with the and kick at -7db or -6db..." and learn to work thing like that.

(#9) VST presets are indicated in the wrapper window, and if you hover your mouse over the top of the wrapper window, they show up in the hint bar as well. A tick next to the preset would be nice though, when your patch has 128 presets.

(#4) If you select your notes, you can easily raise the volumes: once your notes are highlighted, you can even double click any one of them in the piano roll and change properties like you would for a single note. Even when the individual values are different, the change is uniform.

Bottom line: most of the 10 are just learning to use the program the way it was made, I think. Make it's workflow your own the best you can, and if it still fails, then you're using the wrong program. I don't use MIDI chording, so I don't know much about that, but most of what you have said pretty much boils down to learning things the way they are in the program as opposed to the way you would like them to be. If you were complaining about some of the audio shortcomings or sidechaining, I would understand, but it mostly seems either lazy or unwilling on your part to make proper use of the services the way they're provided. :D No malice intended of course. :)

------------------------------

1. Not possible to paste notes in the piano roll at the position of the playback cursor.
2. No auto-chord mode for playing chords with a single MIDI key, especially with the typing keyboard.
3. Only 3 octave presets for the typing keyboard (C3,C4 and C5) and no Keyboard shortcut key to toggle between them.
4. No way to raise / lower velocity of multiple selected notes by equal amount all at once.
5. No way to change volume of all faders at the same time in the step sequencer window. Essential if you like to lower all channels without touching the master fader and when not using the mixer faders at all.
6. There's no way to select all channels on the Step Sequencer with a keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+A) ,only possible with a mouse double-click.
7. No keyboard shortcut keys for selecting presets/programs from a VSTi (you must use the mouse and click on the 2 tiny arrows)
8. No step gator,so effects like the gatemask in Tunafish or the gates in Albino2 are not possible.
9. No indication of which VST preset / program is active (no "a" letter in the menu) when selecting presets from the menu. (remember, this is for VST fx,not VSTi) Also no info in the "titlebar" of the VST wrapper window.
10. No mappable transport keys to a gamepad.

If FL Studio only had these features,it would be much more user-friendly and easier to use.
Where's the wank smiley?

It's called learn your tool and adjust your workflow to it. I've never seen any of those as a problem.

I just want scrollable VST housing-windows... :(

1. Give us more zoom in piano roll even with low PPQ (Timebase)
Now it's nessesary to nake higher PPQ settings to have proper zooming, resulting in higher cpu usage. Sorry for screaming tho.

I made a copy of the Fl shortcut poster (at the time jmc said it was fine) adjusted the size and made it my FL wallpaper...but I never use it because if you hover the cursor over an item it will tell you what the shortcut s....so what's the big deal about shortcuts?

use the box in the upper right corner of the piano roll...the cursor will turn to arrows giving you much more zoom...same with the EE and playlist....;)

Of course I know this function, but still PPQ settings affects the highest possible zooming.

Hink wrote:BTW softsynth...the worst thing in FL is the step sequencer imho...use the piano roll instead...use the mixer to link channels...I think you might see some of your woes go if you stop using the SS...imo FL has the best piano roll I have used...:)
I always convert the channels from step to piano roll.I never use the step seq. and I also think the Piano Roll is the best I've ever used in a host/soft-studio.
Thanks for the tip on Ctrl+X,that makes only 9 bad things now :)

They're not bad at all.I use some of the other effects and instruments, and they're great - especially the Flangus,Delay 2,the 3-band comp, the parametric EQ,and the old SoundFont player works great for loading huge SF2 files, despite having DirectWave now.

I'm really mad that FL Studio won't write hit songs for me. They expect me enter the chart topping notes MYSELF. :tantrum:
