tubebooster (warming) and grancomp3 (for multiband compression/limiting) - and it's all free

or try dominion (also free).

Yes, I have the demo and will probably buy it, since I am into rhythmic effects. It adds quite a bit of coloration, I find though. They have a free product called phatfree which is plain vanilla but respectable.

i came across this forum and just wanted to put in a bit of support for tubebooster, a free plugin that to my ears, does a fine job of adding some fat tube style body..

this will beat any plugin..hint: swap the sovtek tubes for some more linear "better ones" NOS ev.!?
this thing is bringing you the "real thing" for a very moderate price.

Did anyone mention Nonlin? That sucker is amazing on tracks, helps them to peak out of the mix a bit, I use it all the time.

Even nonlin free? Weird. Try contacting the developer, maybe? I can tell you right now, it doesn't sound like, nor is it as divese as VW, but it seems to work in its own way.
