The most under rated I believe is the Sonitus reverb - clean - low CPU useage - does a nice job at just $49.

Source? That sounds silly to me, since modern computers work in 32-bit words and there should be no advantage to such a stunt...

Of course, I code mostly in MATLAB, and unless you specify otherwise, everything in MATLAB is a double-precision float, so I wouldn't know for sure...

I also think Uad's Dreamverb is a reverb that many are asleep to.rich,unique and smooth reverb it is. I prefer it over their plate 140.

But (supposing I have a good set impulse responses) what's the main difference between convolution and normal reverbs? (speaking in terms of sound quality - cpu usage)

Convolution reverbs I know (but not tried yet) : Voxengo pristine space

Going to go completely against the flow here and recommend a very little known reverb without it's own GUI: Ariesverb

I'm constantly going back to this one. Preset #1 is all I need for huge spacey, non clangy reverb.

get your copy here

Here's some work I've done with it:
View from Mulholland Click through to the 'listen' link - used on the piano.
and most recently on a collaboration with Notthecommondose here at KVR. I used it on the guitars

Much agreed. The width control makes it quite versatile as well.

But then... I guess I've never been too terribly picky about reverb, as I try to keep it's use to a bare minimum.

Buy you're right, at $50 it's a wonderful plugin.

...isn't there some discreet spots of reverberd guitar hidden behind the piano part ?

I wonder if this thing is ever going out of alpha? Anyone know if it's still being worked on?

Wavearts is an very good allround reverb that uses NO cpu, BUT it sounds very good indeed.
I have been very happy with it since i bought it years ago.

I paid $76 for a 2 PCM-90's system that I can run as a standalone effects box with adat/spdif/analog i/o and it sounds like honey.

Yes, absolutely - but the guitar also got treatment from Frohmage as well as Bionic Delay on a warped tape sim before I sent it to Ariesverb.
