Did SX2 have realtime timestretching? I thought that was introduced in SX3?dusted william wrote:I've never had a problem with time stretch, but I don't have SX3.

And I was worrying away here in my little studio about whether I should shell out for the Live 6 upgrade coming out shortly! Sheesh, my worries are nothing to you poor Cubase guys!
Then again, there is a bit of a hint at Audio Midi in their promo of Sonar 5 producer ed. rebate offer that version 6 is on the horizon...so maybe it is time to WAIT!!! and see what comes up.
It is all looking good to me because I haven't bought anything for ages and it seems that there are really major upgrades afoot for software and hardware across the board!
Oh, and @ bullshark...mmmmm, obsessive-compulsive you are then!

While mentioning Logic:M4M wrote:what a bunch of assholes!
means I HAVE to wait sx4 to change computer, they are the stupidest bunch ever, think its time to move to logic now...
It started with Logic Pro 7. A very buggy and unstable version.
Then Apple released an update to 7.1 which made Logic finally stable but one had to pay for it. Great, as a Logic user you have to pay to get a more stable version.
Then the intelmacs arrived. Apple maid another update (7.2) which can be installed on those new intel machines, but you have to pay again to be able to install your already bought Logic 7 on a intel mac.
If you own a PowerPC Mac and want to use the newest update (7.2) you have to pay to.
But wait, you also have to update your operating system 10.3 to 10.4 if you want to run the latest version of logic, so be prepared to pay also for the "new" operating system.
Next time try to use the word asshole a little more economically, unless you mean yourself.

This is an open forum, anyhow it intrigues me why guys that don't have a clue about SX feel entitled to bark some "opinions", e.g. Logic users about what SX should be, how they hate dongles and Steinberg.John Vulich wrote:Did SX2 have realtime timestretching? SX always had MPEX, long before than Sonar, now it has WARP too, a technology, i think, Steinberg bougth from Ableton.

You missed the key word in that other post...namely 'realtime'; MPEX is not realtime. SX3 was when they introduced realtime timestretching a la Sonar/Ableton/Acid...stag wrote:This is an open forum, anyhow it intrigues me why guys that don't have a clue about SX feel entitled to bark some "opinions", e.g. Logic users about what SX should be, how they hate dongles and Steinberg.John Vulich wrote:Did SX2 have realtime timestretching? Next thing you know they'll be working on version 5 after they release version 4. What a crazy world.

HI
Man ... they should have a serious look at the interace/giu/windows and the way users want to access the programme on a workflow/usability level.
Not bashing SX (I had V2/3 myself), but all these so called 'killer' new features that are served up are pretty useless if the basic operation of the host is not what it could or should be.
I think it is important that developers keep looking at the interface, as more features are introduced more time is spent working with the interface.

Excuse me, who won't allow you to change the computer? Steinberg?M4M wrote:i meant asholes in the fact that they won't alllow SX3 user to change computer before they decide to relase sx4,not for the pay upgrade
Change your computer if you want (I guess you mean an intel-mac). You are just not able to run cubase sx3 on it. And it is by far not the only program. Neither microsoft nor adobe released UB versions of their programms (Just to mention two very popular software companies). Why should Steinberg take the time to port sx3 just months before a new release is out. Neither Protools 6.9 is running on an intelmac. You have to buy the Protools 7 (actually 7.1) if you want to run it on an intelmac. You also have to buy Digital Performer 5.0 if you want to run it on an intelmac (4.5 or 4.6 will not run). And as I already said, even Apple forces you to pay for their own Sequencer if you want to run it on an intelmac. What's your problem. Try to look a little wider on the things. The only difference is that Cubase is still not out. Just wait a few months, use sx3 and after the release of sx4 buy a new computer if you need to.
And BTW, while you are mentioning logic, do you remember what happend to Logicusers on PC a few years ago?

I didnt' even know that sx3 has real time stretching.
All I know is that I was happy with the rendered time stretching in SX. I haven't used it in so long though, mostly use Live now, but if SX4 is good I'll spring for it.

I should have said I never had any problems with the MPEX timestretching.
I never minded stretching or shrinking my audio "offline". Once I had my tempo set I never had to change it again, plus the quality was amazing!
