You can do that in Live 5. With Impulse, for example, simplyy set up Impulse on a MIDI track, create 8 audio tracks and using the imput routing selections you can set up each Impulse cell on its own audio track, using whatever effects you wish to.

Anyone know if they have fixed the automation bugs working with NI Kore in this version?

hmm, seems I'm too late to get the beta in this phase..

and almoqt forget about saving your instrument as a reusable template with presets and everything...

headquest mentioned how it can be done in Live 5 - In addition to the L5 method, in the Live 6 beta you can create an instrument rack with X number of impulses. Each of those impulses can have its own effects chain. So with Live6 you could do it with just one track.

btw, each impulse can also have its own velocity/key range so you could make a multi-sampled drum kit if arbitrary size if you wish.

You can do as I described with the racks and then just drag it into the browser, saved. The racks are impressive and not limited to just Live effects. Any 3rd party plug-ins can be used in racks.

Well I must say the multicore support in L6 is AMAZING!!

I just ran a Live 5 project - quite a big one, with around 62% CPU reported at its "climax".

Running the same project in Live 6 that fell to just 28%.

Simply fantastic, and worth the upgrade just for that!! But of course there is so much more to love about this update too...

@ pdxindy - I haven't even tried the Racks yet, but that method with Impulse sounds really good. I like the idea of racking together two impulses to have a 16-drum instrument. :D

I just created a 2 impulse 16 drum instrument rack... in 15 seconds... (no samples dragged into slots)

Okay... took me all of 2 minutes to make a rack with 16 slots and 3 velocity switching layers using 6 impulses

and of course, once made, you just drag it to the browser and give it a name like 16slot impulse /3vel-layers... or rather, make a directory with that name, and drag in different copies with different samples to work as presets to that 'instrument'!

If you have an effects rack you like, you can drag it and drop it after an impulse in a rack. IOW, you can have racks inside racks!

They did an outstanding job on this.

Still waiting for my serials :) :hyper:

 That's awesome!

Makes me wonder why I would want to buy the Sampler though... did you try that yet ... anyone?

[feedback on the Abes forum is mixed about Sampler...]

I haven't tried the sampler yet, but I have to say they really nailed it with the racks. I had no intention of updating at first... but the racks alone could be enough to make me crack open the piggy bank. Sure I've built stuff somewhat similar using lots of modular tools... but the beauty of it, is that it doesn't require any of that. It's dead simple, and works really well. I'm impressed.
