In Sam V8 Pro to edit midi:
Double click on the object you have created and the midi editor opens.
To Loop an Object: Select the object, press Ctrl L and the drag the end of the object. It will loop as long as one want
Pressing Ctrl D (after selecting the object)appends a copy to the end of the original object.
With the midi editor open, you could also copy+paste as required.

Works also in Se. You can create a new midi object by pressing Ctrl + O or going in the midi menu. Then you can edit by using midi editor (still in midi menu) or by double clicking on it...

I never used loop (I'm a cubasis user, so I'm new on samplitude), but after trying it I can say it's a good feature... Thank you very much for showing this function!!!

Yeah, thanks, those are good tips. It looks like you really need to know the keyboard shortcuts. I was trying to use the mouse and stumbling around like you do with a new program, I created all sorts of havoc. I got it to loop, but I must have accidentally created some sort of volume envelop, because every other pass the first notes were much louder. I tried to stretch it, but other things happened. I'll try these tips when I get home from work.

AFAIK you only need to register with the Samplitude forum, and this is possible also if you didn't buy any MAGIX software.
If it doesn't work speak up in the open "newcomer forum", I am sure the folks there will help you.

Suport in the Newcomer Forum has increased dramatically in the last few weeks.This is mainly because when Pro users log on they can now also see the newcomer forum, which they couldn't up to about 2 weeks ago.As Pulpicon says, you dont have to own a Magix product.

That is oh so true, especially for us devs as monitoring/reading/commenting all the threads is much easier now. And consumes less time (that nobody has)

Definitely makes more fun that way and we also get more feedback in return.

Any chance Samplitude SE will work on an old Win 98 machine if I don't care about latency? (128MB RAM, 800Mhz) I've been largely banished to the old computer in the basement for my music hobby.

By the way, Sascha, the digitalfishphones plugs are great. I typically use Endorphin for mastering (at least my version of mastering). The manuals are also very instructive. Your music is cool too.

Depends on what you do with it and on how the whole system can keep up with current technology.
Sam used to run fine with Win98 but that OS is no more officially supported. We highly recommend Win XP for the current versions (v9 & v8.31). I suggest you to try the latest Demo (v8.11) to see if it works for you.

Sascha or any Samplitude guru - is there a sample project we could download and try in 8 SE?

I'm part of the multitude trying Samplitude via the CM #103 coverdisc. The magazine tutorial is pretty crude; I like looking at a properly done project and tearing it apart.

Yes, and some folks on the Magix site are recommending downloading the Samp 8 demo in order to get a help file that more closely corresponds to to Samp SE. However, I am afraid that if I install the demo to extract the help file, I will mess up my Samp SE install. For some reason the help file that comes with Samp SE is for Sequoia.

A place to download the Samp 8 helpfile would be nice.

Samplitude installation usually defaults to a folder on the C drive (C/Magix) outside of the usual c/programs/Magix/Samplitude. I'm pretty sure if you specified a folder within "progam files" it wouldn't affect your SE installation. Another option is to download the demo,extract the .pdf and then reinstall SE. Downloading the demo will also give you the demo song. There is no seperate download available for the demo song or help files from Magix.
Documentation has long been an issue with Samplitude, its believed to be improved with V9, but its an excellent program and worth the learning curve.

Can't seem to get the Samplitude demo at this moment (1:20 PM EDT).

I go to http://www.samplitude.com/eng/seq/demo.html, for the
"Samplitude Professional Version V8.11 Demo"
... hit the link for the " english (30,0 MB)" demo, the url is

... but the page is a 404 Not Found, and the page message is
"Not Found
The requested URL /counter/download.php was not found on this server."

Kenn,

Try the Magix site instead of the Samplitude site. I got it there. I installed it on another computer to avoid messing up my Samp SE install, and there _is_ a usable help file. "Load Demo Project" is greyed out, however, and I do not see any demo project in the download.
