kemik I have a nice plugin that you might enjoy, it's designed to phase cancel all the humor out of KVR posts.

Or you could put a blanket over the monitor I guess

You could try placing something behind the mic to kill the reflections. Rockwool sheets or a matress opposite the amp.

I'm not a guitar player, but using (what may be flawed) logic i thought of this...couldn't you get a box/tea chest, cut one hole for the cable and another to put the mic in and fill the inside with those wee polystyrene chip thingies? (i don't know what they are called, but they usually look like small white bows).

In case loud volumes aren't an issue (and they don't seem to be as you didn't mention them), just get a big carton and put it over everything. Additionaly put some thin foamy material on the inside of the walls. Less than 10 bucks. Been there, done that (successfully).

Alternatively, as mentioned, use some sort of gate on the recorded material. Check out Digitalfishphones' Dominion, which is more of a transient/envelope shaper than a pure gate.
