I realize why they didn't before but that was really hurting them.

well, I for one, will believe this only when I see it. they said pretty much the same think in 5, and all they did was "embed" the wrapper. I'm guessing/dreading that they just embedded it a little deeper, but I HOPE like heck they have a pure VST implementation (that honors the dir/sub-dir structure of your VST folder, for instance).

order my upgrade today. it does look like a pretty substantial upgrade!

That alone makes me think the makers of Sonar are the only people who actually make music with PCs and understand how things have changed. If that is possible, wtf is wrong with everyone else?

REAPER has had this functionality for a long time

thankfully, Justin Frankel is a dev who actually USES the software he makes, so that type of thing comes naturally for him to put in there

hehe when sonar 5 came out thats what they said -- fully integrated vst support... didnt happen. something tells me they got it right with the new version and that is nice

might just be a worthy host now!!!

Damn I just got Sonar 5 a few months ago. Seems I have only got used to S5 last week. Man I am getting old. This world is wy too fast.

if you notice Sonar 4 and 5 users pay the same upgrade...I'm thinking of skippng 6 and waiting for 7...

How long ago?

If you upgraded in July for 5, Sonar 6 upgrade is only 50.00.

Even if it's before July, give support a call and you might be able to talk them into it.

I wish they make their gui more flexible. I'm not keen on it because it seems so cluttered. I'd like a few options for changing the way Sonar looks and perhaps that's included in v6.

if vst support was only integrated it would still have to scan for vsts.. you'll see if it does that or not. If not, it means S6 has native REAL vst support

Yes, but REAPER is a far more mature product (with far more mature users). It will no doubt take Cakewalk a long time to catch up with the great pioneer Justin.

I wasnt implying that the cakewalk guys didnt do music!!! Im just saying, along the same lines, that justin does as well

no need to get so defensive/sarcastic.... I meant no ill will by my post at all!! as a matter of fact, i am rather enthused with this latest release!!!! Something tells me it truly is maturing into something worthwhile, imo.

Reaper has had that functionality a "long time" considering how long the acutal product has been available... it was one of the first features i believe. pretty obvious, sad it didnt really show up in DAWs before that, and now sonar.. good choice!!!

Yeah, Sonar 6 looks like a fine update. The only problem for me with it is that Live and Sonar seem to be very much converging now. With the updates they both get this month, I'm not sure that I can personally justify sticking with and paying up for both... decisions, decisions

Last time I checked Reaper still didn't have ReWire functionality.

Sonar 6 information is available now.
