dblue Glitch
has one of the best gates i ever layed a mouse pointer on. Plus a retrigger.

PQN Gatemask
has 32steps but no way of adjusting the attack hence clicky noises abound

Ben,

I noticed that most of the presets in Camelspace leaned towards sonic weirdness - I am looking for a serious trance gate that is very programmable - and that I can add delay or dual delay to, chorus, etc. Nothing else really floats my boat and this is for a project I am doing. I mostly want to cut up the human voice, guitars - almost everything - and have it very rhythmic and tempo synced using either a gate or a cutter. I know Camelspace can do it, but none of your demo presets show any of this off and turned me off pretty quickly. I still LOVE the interface and the RANDOM button is a kick!

Its true that most of the presets use several effects - though there are some that limit themselves to just trance gate and delay. If you have a preset that you quite like the sound of but has a bit too much going on, turn off everything apart from the trancegate and delay. You could also try just turning on the trance gate/delay/chorus and hitting random - that should be quick way to come up with ideas just involving those effects.

Yeah, I know, but I am one impatient person. I tried about 20 of the demos presets and got turned off. I can be dense and pig-headed sometimes.

I will take your suggestion. Right now I am choosing between Camspace and a Sonicbytes bundle for sale - very close in price so it's a hard call!!!

A good tip for using Glitch with drum loops (at least 2 begin with) is to just have ONE of the nine effects running in the step sequencer in a pattern that sounds good (use the Randomise 'Steps' button if you're in a rush). Then when you find a glitch-ified drum loop that sounds good/compatible with the dry version, render it out and start again with a new effect / pattern. It's time consuming, but the results can be excellent & remember Rome wasn't built in a day, at least I think it wasn't

Going from memory since I'm not at home...

Camelspace comes with, if I recall, three banks of presets. At the very end of two of them (if I recall) there are a couple simple gate examples. Check the last couple presets in each bank.

If you can't find them or if the demo doesn't come with them I can send you one of mine. I took one of those presets and tweaked it for my own use.

Or, the manual is a quick read and making gate patterns is easy. The link things under the bars link that step to the next, you can have up to eight pages of 16 steps, and you control the length of your pattern in measures (or portion of a measure) using the length control above the pattern. The rest of the trickery is a short read in the manual.

Camelspace and an electric guitar are going to keep me busy for a long while. I love that plug.

In your opinions, what is the best trance gate?
