Really, but it only goes up and down by octaves. I assumed if it were a pitch shifter it would be a touch more chromatic. So which ones are like the guitar pedal effects again?

That's a different rectifier, for converting AC wall current to DC to power your tubes. He's asking about one in the signal path. A full wave rectifier. Like Jimi's Tychobrahe Octavia pedal.
I know that. Technically, they are both full wave rectifiers, and both double the input frequency, for "sag" rectifier i.e. 50-->100Hz (60-->120Hz). Which should obviously be filtered out as much as practically possible ...
