Like what? There's nothing in it, its a maintenance release. Except maybe D'n'D which is for dumbarses anyway ands makes absolutely no sense in ORION's operating paradigm.Jason Brian Merrill wrote:I just see some features that i recognize from other hosts that i think its cool that orion implemented.
It clearly wasn't such a POS that you couldn't work out that you didn't need to buy it, which kind of makes your comment look more than somewhat stupid and says plenty more about you than the application, don't you think?ttoz wrote:really? bigges pos i ever used. so glad i managed to resell it.

I've never seen Orion before but I was just wondering what this is:
- - Genetics is now possible for VST and Internal Effects

genetics has been available in the instruments for a while, it basically takes 2 presets and kinda breeds them to get a whole new preset, ie takes parameters from each preset and voila!
not always great but sometimes very interesting

I use it quite a bit when I'm doing presets for my synths. You just keep hitting the "breed" button until you get something you like.

All random functions have ever brought me are ear-piercing screetches when a rez setting is too high. I'd be very careful if using this function at regular monitoring levels.

That's the good bit, its not totally random. You start with two parent presets so, generally speaking, your settings should be in the bearable range most of the time.

Just to expand on this a little - genetics has always been available in Orion for VSTi's, but not Orions onboard synths. Now it is. I always wondered why it wasn't so this is a logical fix imo.vurt wrote:runagate wrote:I've never seen Orion before but I was just wondering what this is:

Within any synths preset window, you can select two presets and hit 'Breed' for a whole new sound. If you like the presets as bases but don't like the sound it throws at you after a breed, just press 'Breed' again... and again... until you get that sound. Or you can choose to select two random presets and breed those. Chances of coming up with a new sound? Very high.
H.G.Fortune's synths generally have something very similar on them in the form of the 'Lazy' buttons, as does Oatmeal with its 'Random' button.
All in all, a good update, but still sans the docked time display. (Cue blood and bile spat from the mouth of bones.
